2024-08-11 01:49:29 +0000 UTCAt some point in Dragon Ball Z, i think is the future that trunks live, Goku died from a heart disease, even tho death is not that final on that show it gave a similar feeling when watched it, this person that have almost unlimited power but lost to sickness. Is kinda nice cause nice cause is different but at the same time feels so wrong

2024-08-10 23:09:42 +0000 UTCI think it's upsetting because you can see this potential for greatness, love, and advancement of the world as a whole if Meruem were to become a benevolent ultimate being, only to have the rug pulled instead. You can argue that the potential for him to go the other way was too great a threat to entertain, but it's still depressing seeing the potential snuffed out without him even getting a real chance. Netero's words are a lot more haunting with the understanding that whether by blast or the destruction of his DNA: "regardless of which side he lands on, the result will be the same." As a side note, I've always thought it was odd that radiation isn't presented as a bigger threat to strong beings in various media. Radiation doesn't care about how big of a punch you can take or how big of an energy blast you can make. It's destroying you on a far more fundamental level.

2024-08-10 14:22:24 +0000 UTCI mean, I think Alex's criticism (and certainly my criticism) of Netero is more the limited scope of what it means to say that he "defeated" them. He never really got the upper "hand" (<- unintentional pun) either physically or, as Alex would say, spiritually. It was a strategically great move, and it probably prevented the slaughter of millions and a prolonged war, and yet it still feels like a Pyrrhic victory.

2024-08-10 08:13:39 +0000 UTCLast episode Youpi gives a little cough when he decides he’ll be looking for Pitou. It’s a very small hint that signifies his end.

2024-08-10 05:12:23 +0000 UTCI’ve been waiting for this episode too. My boy Netero, SINGLE-HANDEDLY, with the help of a nuke and a team of scientists, but SINGLE-HANDEDLY still, defeated the King and 2/3rds of the royal guard. I’ll be accepting a video apology for all the Netero slander for the last few episodes good sir.

2024-08-10 03:06:04 +0000 UTCI always thought of this in term of theme as " What killed god was not the one mastered oneself , but all the ingenuity of humans put into their worst insinct (A weapon of terror and mass destruction)"

2024-08-10 02:50:54 +0000 UTCDamn, I was looking forward to making a joke about the Ark of the Covenant but you beat me to it. The Chimera Ant Arc is many things, one of them being a very meta narrative on humanity. I think it’s scarily realistic in the sense that the negative perspective of “the bottomless malice of humanity” is very upfront. It doesn’t take much effort to see the world with that sort of view, and we see this most clearly through Netero and Gon. Despite this, we’ve repeatedly seen the opposite in the most unlikely of places, which also feels very true to life. We’ve even seen the opposite in both Netero and Gon as well, further driving home the point. Also, there is a post credits scene in one of the coming episodes. The ending will also be different so it shouldn’t be hard to miss.

2024-08-10 01:53:32 +0000 UTCThis episode title is the first I can remember that isn't a pun or double entendre. It's just straight-up "limited lifespan." As for the actual episode's themes and discussion, yeah.... not much I can say other than that I had a very similar wave of emotions and thoughts seeing this the first time. It's not clear who the ant-agonists are at all. But on a lighter note (?), Palm's inability to communicate straightforwardly has been consistent since her introduction and remains now, so there's that.
