I will try to abbreviate: Mark: "Don't act too excited to see me" Amber: *in hysteric tears* "WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU? You've been gone for two months. I was worried" Mark: "I told you where I was going. I told you I didn't know how long it would be" Amber: "What? That makes it Ok?" Mark: "I'm a superhero. That's the deal" Amber: "What if I'm not happy with the deal any more?" ... Amber is the producers' and director's pet project. People called them out for raceswapping her, and when people hated her behaviour during season 1, they came now, in season 2, and they're changing her adaptation to make her more likeable to the audience and justify their decisions "See, people love her, out take on her (including her race) worked!" Do with that information what you will. I'm here to tell the facts, not how you should feel about it.

2024-08-12 22:44:22 +0000 UTCIn their relationship, it's much more normal and relatable in the comics, like it is this season. The feeling is the same in season 2 as it is in the comics. The main cause of stress when Mark didn't tell her he was Invincible had comic Amber thinking he was dealing drugs, so it was a relief when she found out and not a cause for contention. I don't remember comic Amber being grating at all, unlike season 1

Who knows but related to something I touched in it feels like an unwritten rule that doesn't get questioned enough where the hero has to be stressed about his work-relationship balance. It's realistic of course but rarely feels like it's between 2 equivalents or is really anything that important (you missed my dog's birthday party)

2024-08-12 02:10:59 +0000 UTCSo, hopefully someone can help with the details as I haven’t read the comics, but to my understanding the Amber this season is much closer to her comic counterpart. Basically, Amber’s character in the first season deviated from the comics, and now they’ve tried to fix it, which is why it feels like such a severe character shift.
