2024-09-01 03:31:58 +0000 UTCI love how this episode parallels and contrasts the confrontation between Killua and Illumi in the Hunter Exam. In both situations Illumi attempts to force Killua into choosing between killing him and saving Gon (in addition to Alluka and Nanika in this case), however while in the Hunter Exam he is unable to take action due to his fear of Illumi and lack of power to defy him, in this moment Killua has the power to kill him but refuses to do so, because in doing so he would be proving Illumi right in several ways, that he is a killer who could only save Gon by killing Illumi, and that Alluka and Nanika are monstrous tools used for murder and not family (since family is forbidden to kill other family members, using Nanika to kill Illumi is the same as admitting that neither she nor Alluka are family). Instead of having some fight scene where Killua overpowers Illumi we have this beautiful scene where Killua defeats him ideologically and mentally.
