Also there are two OVAs: OVA1 - Memory Snow OVA2 - The Frozen Bond Both are canon, and OVA2 is very important for the plot. OVA1 can either be watched right after the mansion arc (after BD episode 11 / DC episode 6) where it serves as a nice break in the tension, or both can be watched one after the other at the end of season 1.

Loving your analysis! Sometime soon I suggest switching to the Bluray version instead of the Director's Cut. The minor improvements like less censorship and better video quality in the BD far outweigh the few redrawn scenes in the DC, but the biggest improvement is definitely the pacing of certain episodes. The DC combines two episodes at a time, for some episodes this is a huge detriment. In particular there is an episode that really feels like you need time to absorb it before moving onto the next episode, but it's the beginning half of an episode in the DC so the watcher doesn't get any time to sit with it before the next episode plays. I recommend the Seicher release of the BD version (url code 1481999 on nyaa). It's subtitles are generally considered the best the community has at the moment, but they still have some issues. Me and a few others helped make custom subtitles for another reactor (Teeaboo) that go along with the Seicher release and fix most of the issues in the subs. Let me know if you would like a copy!

"She's angry" It's called professional deadpan towards your superior. When Ram attacked him, he realized that it was her who killed him while Rem was torturing him.

Yeah that's amazing, it adds so much! Thank you :D

He crushes that fairy tale

There's also some slim chance that the checkpoint resets right after he jumps to 30 feet above the rocks :o

Wth that's soo cool I didn't knew about this , thanks for the info man

My man you have probably the single best read as a first viewer on this episode than anyone (including myself) that I've ever seen. There is just one single detail that the anime made very obscure that you missed, I hope I can explain it to you in a clear manner: Basically, and this is something that's made exclusively clear in the light novels, is that the primary reason for the breakdown of the conversation in the room where Ram was mourning Rem's death -- was the gesture that Ram made to cause wind magic to cut a line of red on Subaru's cheeks and shatter the lamp behind him. The flashback Subaru had right there of his previous death, where Rem cornered him, is supposed to be a realization. You see, he previously thought that Rem was the one that had finished him in the middle of his pouring his heart out to her on the things she can never know -- but seeing Ram's display of her wind magic made him realize that it was none other than Ram who landed the finishing blow on him back then. Now, what Subaru doesn't know is that Ram actually did that to put him out of his misery and Rem's cruel torture of an interrogation -- hence why Rem commented after Subaru died that "My sister is too kind". Ram knew back then that Subaru's behavior was too suspicious and beyond saving, and knew Rem was going to kill him regardless of what she can get out of him -- but just simply couldn't bare to see him suffer, thus personally ending the interrogation early. Back to how Subaru's realization of this fact through the flashback (the anime really didn't do a good job here, it was clear as day in the novels) made any further conversation break down, to put it simply: it's precisely because that it led Subaru to assume that both the sisters are in together on killing him from the start, and believe the words Rem told him on how Ram was only pretending to befriend him. This obviously isn't true, as Ram never mentioned anything about smelling his Witch's scent and was actually engaged in listening to his fairy tale of the 2 ogres. But Subaru no longer believes that after realizing Ram was the one who finished him off, and had no way of knowing that it's actually due to pity for his misery that she did that. This led to Subaru, who originally wanted to do his best to help both of them, who then later assumed only Rem was the offender, to ultimately thinking that both of them were out to get him from the start. This made him panic and shred his heart into a million pieces, causing him to choose to run away from the room that's getting deafeningly loud, and thus ending all chance for further conversation to clear up the misunderstanding. Of course, as you saw at the end of the episode, Subaru's final realization of the two sisters being the ones holding his hand during his nightmare made him reconsider and believe again that it was just all a massive misunderstanding and misfortune -- leading him to regain his will to help the two sisters, no, the people of the mansion -- that he's getting to know better and better through his piled up deaths. Again, unbelievably attentive reaction and commentary from you throughout the whole 50 minutes, it was a very enjoyable watch! Especially loved how you recognized that Subaru's unnatural levels of attachment and self sacrifice for people he's just met is likely due to a complex mixture of projection, charitable read on others, and also just pure, genuine kindhearted nature from him. Thanks again, looking forward to the future videos! Stay healthy my friend

Also I thought that Subaru was an amazing story teller lol. I'm always super engaged when he tells the Ogre story.

A little part was cut from the novels that took place in the life where he jumped off the cliff, was that he was so scared of the sisters that he wasn't eating any of the food they made. Emilia noticed this and decided to help him by feeding him at his bed side. Obviously super cute from her lol and was another way of showing how the trauma of his deaths was affecting him.

I'm loving this show! I'm glad there was a director's cut, as I've heard it was a bit slow in the past.

The reveal that he can’t tell anyone about return by death, and the implications of that, is one of my favorite parts of this story. And his decision to jump off the cliff, is equal parts heroic and horrifying. He does it with the thought in mind that he may not come back from it, as he doesn’t understand the rules behind return by death. A hand, grasping his heart, stopping him from saying what he most needs to express, is one of my fav visuals in this show. Excited for the next ep!
