You will forever be the #1 mineta stan to me. Not that it's a bad thing, you've made me appreciate him where before, I didn't mind him, but I didn't care about him either! And Mina finally gets her moment! In all seriousness, I'm starting to think that "You are my hero" is MHA speak for "I love you", what ever type of love that may be. I guess in a way losing his quirk means the Hero Hawks just died, but I'm just so relieved that Keigo Takami didn't, I was so scared he would, man. Oh no, AfO lost his condescension quirk! It's kinda surreal, but he sounds more unhinged now, and I kinda like it? Def makes it feel like he was rattled. I wonder if it was Machia turning on him specifically, or just everything not going his way in general that had the bigger effect?

2024-10-10 01:05:28 +0000 UTCMineta didn't really do anything but his intentions were heroic, offering up his own quirk desperate to do anything to protect his classmate from having his quirk stolen. I guess by briefly distracting AFO it somehow ended up leading to him reconsider what his priorities are at the moment, in any case it protected Tokoyami from having his quirk stolen.

2024-10-08 06:38:38 +0000 UTCIt didn't fully land on first watch unfortunately, but later it hit me. OH! It's actually getting in! The "you weak fools" type monologuing is the same but this time it feels fundamentally different, like he's rattled and trying to keep it together

2024-10-08 05:26:58 +0000 UTCI think, in a way, afo does start to fear the "weak" here. When mineta confronts him, he remembers dismissing jirou and how that hurt him. So instead of just continuing to fight and steal quirks, he decides it's not worth the risk and leaves . I love how much you get the themes of the heroes and characters. I can trust your reaction to look behind the obvious. I don't know if you've watched the op or Ed, but the Ed has special added scenes the next two episodes.

2024-10-08 02:46:56 +0000 UTCI’ve probably done plenty of AFO glazing in these comments sections, but i’ve got to keep at it: AFO is my favorite character in MHA. it’s close and i understand he’s not for everyone, but he is certainly for me. He is the perfect thematic antithesis of the series, and his powers and mentality represent so much in that regard. he has all my favorite antagonist tropes, he is a monstrous physical threat, and he massively elevates other characters (mainly Shigaraki). He is basically the perfect mechanical character. But honestly, he still wouldn’t be my favorite if it weren’t for the things yet to come, and I genuinely can’t wait to see your reaction to them.

2024-10-08 01:11:24 +0000 UTCAFO is honestly tied with All Might as my favourite character in the show, and he’s probably my favourite villain in media. I like that he’s just evil for the sake of being evil, like Sukuna, he just does what he wants. It’s kind of refreshing having a villain without a tragic backstory that makes them sympathetic and almost pitiful. I love when someone, who knows how powerful they are, just follows their own whims. I’ve become more solidified in this thought as of late, but if there were powers of sorts in real life, I probably wouldn’t be a villain, but I definitely wouldn’t be a good guy either. God forbid I had powers like AFO, then I’d truly be out of control.

And of course in that montage of people watching, we had movie cameos galore. Making “the movies aren’t canon” crowd seethe. The anime even added cameos for the two original characters from the recently released fourth movie.
