2025-02-18 10:27:35 +0000 UTCNot really much left to say, you put it best, really, all of it. Fantastic Episode and great ending for Keeping up with the Todorokis. I was a little sad they left out the Geten/Compress moment since I actually really liked that, but it doesn't really have room here, I can admit that. And I totally feel ya regarding the All Might stuff. It's awesome, but leaves you shaking in your boots because we all remember what Knighteye said. But there's also still unshakable faith in All Might and the hope that maybe, just maybe, we've already changed the future enough?

2024-10-18 15:01:47 +0000 UTCIt's a smaller detail in this episode, but I can't help but love that small poignant line from Iida, "the reason I have this quirk is to help lost children find their way home". His growth from the vengeful kid who tried to kill stain and ignore the hero who was in danger, to declaring he was a rescue hero, to now saying his life's purpose is to help his friends family. A really beautiful short line. I think this show is so good at the small lines, we got death arms - a man who quit due to social pressure; saying his body moved on his own, this show's proof on who is a true hero to their core. He couldn't help but be heroic when it mattered.

2024-10-17 19:59:22 +0000 UTCThis is easily my favorite episode of MHA. It was the first time I cried for a tv show, or for any form of media, in a long time. Maybe it was an increase of my own sensitivity due to recent personal events, or maybe it was just that well written and acted, but this episode just really made an impact. I'm glad I wasn't the only one

2024-10-17 07:10:13 +0000 UTCThe VA from Dabi on sub and dub was so good that it made me actually sympathetic to Dabi when I largely find him the least sympathetic of the Dabi/toga/Shiggy trio.

2024-10-17 03:10:44 +0000 UTCA particularly sad thought is that... Toya had it all along. Endeavor's very first son had that fire and ice that Endeavor wished for, he got it first time. Maybe it would have even manifested naturally eventually, if Endeavor didn't feel like he had to push past Toya and have a bunch of other children.

2024-10-17 01:46:12 +0000 UTCYeah this episode adapted the rest of chapter 385 all the way to the second to last page of 390. A lot of chapters covered here.

2024-10-17 01:34:56 +0000 UTCIt’s surprising just how emotional All Might can get me just by standing in the rain staring down a villain 😭

2024-10-17 01:32:21 +0000 UTCAmazing performances all around. There's something especially haunting about Toya's broken dialogue that I'm not sure how they managed to capture

2024-10-17 01:31:08 +0000 UTCThis episode actually had a major part that was cut from it after the All Might tease. At the beginning of chapter 387, we cut to Geten in prison. He’s talking to Compress, who’s in the cell next to him. Geten is revealed to be a member of the Himura clan(Rei’s family). He comes from one of the many branch families. Effectively confirming that he and Rei were distant cousins. And by extension all the Todoroki siblings. He reveals how the Himura’s started as village leaders and maintained power during the Agricultural Revolution by making branch families, but when quirks emerged that’s when their downfall began. The family insisted on keeping their bloodline pure and only marrying within the families, cousins marrying cousins. But when the clan head started selling off his children into marriages, that’s when the rest of the branch families scattered. Geten was subsequently found and taken in by Re-Destro. Geten remarks on how meta abilities grow more complex with each generation, with dormant abilities hiding underneath the surface. This is what serves as a lead in to the reveal that Toya has Rei’s quirk within him. The scene ends with Geten asking Compress if he had any stories to tell, as they have to time to kill. This scene marked the last major appearance from these two characters, but given how it slowed down the flow of the episode and is ultimately irrelevant info for the most part, that’s probably why it was cut.
