2024-10-17 01:29:04 +0000 UTCYesterday I heard this idea that there are 4 stages of accepting a new idea: 1. That's ridiculous 2. That's interesting but perverse 3. That's right but it doesn't matter 4. That's right and I thought so the whole time

2024-10-16 09:15:39 +0000 UTCThis is something great about OPM that you have started to realise. OPM isn't necessarily Saitamas story but about the growth of the people around him.

2024-10-15 23:07:24 +0000 UTCIt's interesting rewatching this with your commentary, because you've helped me notice this time that Saitama up to this point doesn't always act super heroic. He's really disconnected from the people he's saving - you pointed out that several times he doesn't seem to care about the massive amounts of destruction and death that happen around him. On the other hand you have Mumen Rider, who puts everything he has into service to the community, no matter what the level of threat is or how capable he is of handling it. It gives us two ends of the spectrum of heroism, someone with the power to stop evil but no interest in what he's doing, and someone who's powerless yet has a deep connection to the job. I don't think it's a coincidence either that many people (both in the universe of the show as well as the people watching the show) feel more fond of Mumen Rider than Saitama.

2024-10-15 16:01:10 +0000 UTCThis is a comment I found on a YouTube video Credit: Liessmith424 “Mumen Rider Vs. Deep Sea King is unironically one of my favourite Anime fights of all time. For the whole two part story, every single hero who stood against the Deep Sea King did so with full confidence that they’d succeed. Any time someone wasn’t sure they’d succeed, they wouldn’t step forward to fight (like the hero in the shelter). The *only* exception is Mumen Rider. He went in with the full knowledge that he was going to lose, but it didn’t matter - he had to buy every second he could. In the end, he wound up saving the lives of Genos, the other heroes, and every single person in that shelter. If he hadn’t delayed the Deep Sea King for a couple minutes, all of those people would have been slaughtered by the Saitama arrived.

2024-10-15 07:12:53 +0000 UTCMumen Rider is what the protagonist of the show would be, if it wasn't a comedic satire. And he wrote the one good letter, too. The guy that started calling out Saitama and the rest of the heroes my be a caricature, but this doesn't matter. It would have been anyone in his place. They just saw something that the human brain can't understand. Occam's Razor: The simplest explanation is usually the best one. How can everyone been wrong about Saitama for so long? How can he do what others can't, especially in his unimpressive way? Saitama's strength doesn't make sense anyway, not even to Genos who believes in him. Genos doesn't even understand the how, it's just belief, which isn't very convincing. By the way "these things called eyes" would have you believe that magic is real when someone does a magic trick, that there are ghosts and UFOs and the Bigfoot.

2024-10-15 06:36:23 +0000 UTCFinally started calling Mumen Rider by his hero name XD. Honestly that dude is better than Erwin Smith in my book. His philosophy is much more applicable.

2024-10-15 05:50:47 +0000 UTCit's so funny to me that the guy at 14:10 just hypocritically deproves his own point by proselytizing that a class C hero couldn't have one punched it because he is C class to then clarify that a rank of a hero doesn't mean anything if the A and S class heroes couldn't even defeat it

2024-10-15 05:19:23 +0000 UTCMusic is so underrated but adds so much when times properly... Mumen rider is one of the best characters of all time, especially given his limited time. The Music kicks in at 25:30 and again at 26:05 while he is talking about just being a hero like its a normal thing. I get goose bumps and i swear I can feel my heart swell. Its really something different.

2024-10-15 02:15:13 +0000 UTCThat's interesting. In this case it seems even riskier because the heroes he's deflecting the role towards don't seem up to the task compared to All Might
Alex G
2024-10-15 01:59:19 +0000 UTCThis episode wants me to compare Saitama with All Might. All Might used his amazing power to make everyone feel secure, hense the catch phrase "I am here". Saitama though seemed to pick the other path, letting the world think the other heros are competent. Though both methods seem to end in the same effect and tell people they can trust the system to protect them.
