Subaru is the Japanese name of the constellation Pleiades. It's known by cultures across the world as the "Seven Sisters", which was an anthropological mystery, because there are only six visible stars. With modern telescopes and scientific understanding, we rediscovered a seventh star, hiding behind the sixth. Many thousands of years ago, the seventh star was visible to the naked eye. The sky has changed since then, but the memory of the seventh sister was passed down verbally all that time. It's one of humanity's oldest stories, so ancient that we all have it in common.

2024-10-20 08:33:17 +0000 UTCFun fact. I'm 90% sure Subaru actually invented mayonnaise in the rezero universe since he loved it so much

2024-10-19 00:36:29 +0000 UTCI always thought Rem's complete 180 on Subaru was hilarious. One of my favorite bits in the show going forward is just Rem complimenting and going along with anything and everything he says

2024-10-18 10:22:57 +0000 UTCGot it, that makes perfect sense Also lmao that’s actually funnier than you’d think because Crunchyroll has gotten a lot of shade before during Season 2 and especially recently with the airing of Season 3 on their frequent, severe mistranslations of critical dialogues between key characters like every episode LOL. They’re 0 for 3 so far in Season 3 on translating and essentially no one in the Re:Zero community trusts them to manage their series anymore 😅 I feel like you can usually trust CR on their authority but this is one of the outlier series haha

2024-10-18 03:35:27 +0000 UTCYeah I got the distinct sense that I was supposed to understand certain things that I had no context for yet. I wasn't going to watch it yet but Crunchyroll has it listed as next after the previous episode. I trusted their authority 💀

2024-10-18 03:27:07 +0000 UTCI didn't actually realize that you were on track to watch this OVA right now in a chronological fashion, and to be honest Idk if it's a hot take or not but I'm part of the group that's somewhat against watching this till like post Season 2 LOL. It's mainly just because there are way too many references towards future events in this OVA that you won't be able to get, nor do I think it's good from a narrative standpoint for these references to be the first things that come to your mind when you eventually get to those foreshadowed things later on in the main story. I'm of the opinion that ideally, you wouldn't want your first exposure to the events referenced to be the references themselves. Also, while I actually do think the humor in this OVA is quite good and it also makes sense from a canon standpoint (because it is canon) -- the whole atmosphere is very exaggerated in order to create this lighthearted "filler" in between the previous and upcoming arc as the "calm before the storm". Rem's exaggerated attachment to Subaru is part of that, it's something that's technically canon but only makes perfect sense and can be fully appreciated once you watch the latter progressions in the actual main story. I think it's only natural for it to throw any first time viewers off if they watch this before finishing Season 1, and leads them to the conclusion that her dynamic with Subaru is just deteriorated off this exaggerated portrayal in this OVA. After all, the author wrote the OVA right AFTER he wrote the next Arc (Arc 3), and so he was approaching it from a perspective assuming the readers have already read most of the events referenced ahead and whatever character dynamics that developed. This OVA also has a ton of references for Season 2 of the anime which covers the Arc even after the next Arc (Arc 4), so I'm really of the opinion that there's just no way you can enjoy this even close to the full extent of what you would've been able to if you choose to say -- watch this post Season 1 or even Season 2. Still, much thanks for the reaction. I'm incredibly excited for future ones and what's to come, as you approach the first arc that can be considered a "heart" of the show in the upcoming episodes of the Capital Arc!

2024-10-18 03:24:13 +0000 UTCThe Rem slander is borderline heretical with not a bolter or melta in sight... I fall asleep basically the same way. Usually writing stories in my head.

2024-10-18 01:14:34 +0000 UTCThis OVA is a lot of fun. So between episodes 11 and 12, where this takes place, about 2-3 months of time passes in the novels. There’s various slice of life stories that the author wrote about during this time. This OVA is basically adapting some of those more lighthearted stories, while also giving some pertinent foreshadowing and hints at future events, as well as lore and the like.
