*sounds of the door opening to baby crying* Hey hey, shh shh awww what’s the matter? Hey shh shh shh shh. It’s okay. Daddy’s here. Daddy’s got you. Awww, let’s wipe away those tears. What’s wrong? *sniff sniff* Hmm you don’t smell like you need to be changed. Mommy already fed you and burped you. You don’t feel hot but then again you are half-vampire. You probably don’t understand a word I’m saying do you, little buddy? Well, when you learn to talk, I’ll explain that Daddy, won’t ever be like any of the other Daddies out there and that mommy is the only one who is well...normal. Anyways, these are facts that you don’t need to know right now, and like I said, you probably don’t understand a word I’m saying do you? Hehe aww, there’s my handsome little man. I can’t believe you’re almost a year old Alexander. It seems like only yesterday, your mother was telling me that she was carrying you in her tummy and that I was going to be a daddy. I still can’t believe I’m holding you in my arms right now. I know you don’t know numbers right now, but-- [pause] Hmmm that’s strange, I thought I heard Mommy walking in here but that can’t be, she’s fast asleep. You sure know how to wear Mommy out, don’t you? Anyways, like I said, I know you don’t know what numbers are except maybe number 1 and number 2 *soft chuckles* I’ve been alive for over 120 years and I have never met a woman as amazing and beautiful as Mommy. 

The first night I met her was absolute bliss. Because I’m a good man, I remembered how beautiful she was right down to the closest detail. Don’t worry, I’ll teach you how to be a good man if and when you start liking girls, but hey, if you like boys Daddy will still teach you how to be one. Your mother was wearing this black short-sleeve button-down with a torn black jean vest. She had 6 patches on it. They were all of the bands she listened to. On her right shoulder, she had a Hawthorne Heights patch. On her left shoulder, she had a Taking Back Sunday patch. She had only one in the front and it was a Paramore patch. She listened to Paramore almost every second of every day when we were in the car together. The other three on her back were of Good Charlotte, Tokyo Hotel, and Secondhand Serenade. She was wearing these black denim jeans that had holes on her right leg only for some reason. Haha. Mommy sure was silly and she still is, isn’t she? Hehe. She had the most gorgeous eyes. Her left eye had a small brown fleck just to the right of her eye color. That was the first thing I saw because I remember not being able to stop gazing into her eyes. She was wearing dark lipstick, if I remember correctly, it was Clinique Number 30 Ginger Flower. She had exactly 7 bobby pins in her hair because her bangs kept getting in her eyes. Good thing she did because all I ever wanted to do on our first date was to stare into them as long as I could. She had painted her nails a *soft chuckle* blood-red color. She was sitting by herself on a tire swing drinking a...uh...drink only for mommies and daddies. When I approached her, she looked up at me and said hello. My heart actually felt like it was beating again. We talked for what seemed like hours. And I don’t know how it even happened but I just blurted out, “Will you go out with me”? When your mommy said yes, your daddy felt like he was on top of the world. We went to the park where we saw all those duckies? Remember the duckies? It was that exact park where we had our first date. All we did was just eat junk food and watch the sunset together. We shared our first kiss that night. At that moment, time felt like it stood still and it was just me and your mother. Nobody and nothing else existed. 

I was deeply in love with her. Time went on and soon one month became two, then five, then a year, then 3, and then you came along. I was shocked beyond belief. When you get older, I’ll explain everything about vampires and humans. And since you’re a half vampy and a hooman, you’ll need to be taught certain things. Hmph, don’t tell your mom this, but I actually was hoping to have a son. Not to say had I had a daughter, I would’ve loved you any less, but I just wanted a son more *soft chuckle* Hey who knows, maybe I can talk Mommy into her and I give you a sister. Would you like that? Hmmm, you’re probably just smiling because you’re enjoying the sound of my voice. Hmmm, you and your mother are the best things to ever happen to me. Both of you are giving me a reason to live. And I will do whatever I can to give you both the world. [brief pause] Huh? Hmmm Alexander...you heard that too? Hmmm, you think maybe we have ghosties in our house? I mean, Mommy should be asleep shouldn’t she? Hahah, well at least you’ve calmed down a bit. Maybe now she can finally get some rest. 

My son, Alexander, know that your father will always protect you and your mother. I love you both with all of my being. *random humming* Shhh go to sleep...shhh. *continue humming* Awww you fell asleep. There we go, down in your crib. I love you so much. I better get back to your moth-- oh hey honey. How did you sleep? Honey, what’s wrong? Ummff *chuckles* Mmmm I love you too. You heard everything? Hahaha. Hmmm. I love you so much and I'm so thankful that you helped bring this miracle into our lives. Look at him, just sleeping so peacefully. So innocent, so...pure. I’ll make sure that neither of you ever come into harm’s way. Mmmm even after the pregnancy and the lack of sleep, you still look as beautiful as the day I met you and just as beautiful as the day we both said, "I Do". *kisses* I love you and I promise to be the best father and husband I can for you and our son. Always and forever baby, from now until eternity. *kiss*
