Don't worry, it's not the final pinup I'll ever do. It's in reference to the horror movie trope of a girl surviving to the end.
The difference here is that instead of the story having her cry into the arms of some generic white cop that turns up once the carnage is over, our heroine stands tall and defiant. Yeah she's been through some shit, but she's still standing.
This was actually inspired by a conversation I had with Little_B1989 on IG a few weeks ago. We were watching "Evil Dead Rise" (great film btw) texting back and forth the whole way through the film and one of the prevailing thoughts was how cool it looks when a girl's absolutely covered in blood. We're both kind of into horror films and all that stuff so it's not *quite* as weird as it sounds, I promise π - check out her work with HorrifyMe on IG... she's not wrong!
Anyway, in my head I had ideas of her wielding a chainsaw and chopping zombies to bits or something like that, but I've noticed lately that my "action" art doesn't get much traction so I chose the aftermath as the moment to illustrate.
It's a slightly different style again, more ink heavy with flat colours and textures instead of the super airbrushy glowy rendering I normally do. I didn't think that would work too well for this piece so here we are!
