Return Announcement + Changes (Dec 2024)

Howdy folks! It's been a while.

I hope everyone's doing okay out there - wrap up warm and make sure you're taking care of your immune system, there's some annoying bugs going around.

I have to say, I'm stunned to see so many people still here after half a year. It's been a long trip - I got a lot of work done on my other projects, though I'm sad to report they're not near finished yet, and I will have to return to them before long. But I can certainly take a break from them for a few months to return to you guys!

That said, some things have become clear over the course of my hiatus - namely, that I was working myself way too hard with how much content I was producing here. As soon as I stopped, my health skyrocketed, and a ton of issues I was dealing with ceased to be issues. It turns out pushing yourself to your limits every month is actually really bad for you? Stress is a killer, folks.

As much as I love what I do here, I now understand that I can't do it the way I have been - it's just not something I can sustain. I'm going to have to reduce how much I'm doing significantly - which means I have to stop doing shorts in their current form. That's not a decision I've come to lightly - again, I really love doing them - but I don't see an alternative.

However! That's not a change I'm going to rush into - I know a lot of you were hoping to get shorts of your own, and have been waiting patiently for the chance. So, I am going to continue doing them for January as one last hurrah - though I will not be rushing them as fast as I was previously, and it might be February before they're all finished. I'm gunna take my time, and do them properly, without sending my blood pressure through the roof. We'll see how that works out schedule-wise - I'd prefer not to take a month off to catch up just as soon as I come back, but I'm not going to charge people extra for me being slow.

In addition - since I'm making a fairly huge change to this patreon already, I feel this is the time to make a shift that I've been drifting towards for a while now. Long time subscribers probably already know what I'm talking about - I'm going to stop using this patreon for fanfiction, period. There's a whole host of reasons for it, but ultimately I have become uncomfortable writing fanfiction like this, and it's not something I think I can continue to do. I know that's disappointing.

As with the shorts, this isn't an immediate change - January will be operating under the same rules as before. Come February, though, I will no longer be taking fanfiction requests on patreon - if you want to discuss fanfic ideas, please contact me on discord or DMs, and we can see if there's something that can be worked out.

Once January is over I will be reorganizing the tiers and adjusting prices to be in line with these new changes - that's all still in the planning process, so there'll be more details on it later. For the moment, you guys don't need to do anything for January, everything proceeds as normal. I'll let you know how things develop from there when I have a more solid idea of how it'll look.

I think that covers everything. Sorry if people were hoping for a full return to normal service after so long - that's definitely what I wanted to do, but life is an ever-shifting river, gotta move with the current. If I figure out a way of returning to shorts without tanking my health in the future, I'll try to put them back up, but for the moment this is what we'll be going forward with.
