(Suggestions) SongsTress Quest Episode 3 - The First Fans Are The Sweetest

You like to think that there's a hush as you step out of the dressing room, the silence of the world holding its breath, awaiting your big debut. It's preferable to the sound of a creaky old building with half-rusted hinges and wobbly floorboards. Your dressing room - which is to say, the one the old you hid out in - was just one of dozens on this hallway, all of them hidden away behind aging doors that haven't been maintained because paying customers never see this part of the theatre.

The hallway is long, and while maybe once upon a time it the carpet was fitting for its status as the hall of the stars, these days it's worn to the barest thread, with little more than well trod lining left beneath your feet. Hardly appropriate for one of your stature. You feel a pang in your heart, an urge to let the power inside you bloom, to transform this hall, this building, this world into the stage that it should be.

But you hold it in. You're not ready yet. It's okay, you tell yourself. There's no rush. The show doesn't start until the title act is ready.

A voice carries from one of the doors up ahead, and you latch on too it, eager for the distraction - and even more eager to introduce yourself to your first-fans-to-be.

"It was fake. Rigged from the beginning. They knew who they wanted to pick, they just wanted to pretend they found her in a talent show. It makes for a better story."

"I don't know. Sounds like a lot of work to fake something like this for a pretty small benefit."

"Hey, that's showbiz. And I mean you saw who won. The only act worse was that loser who ran off to hide somewhere down the hall."

"Ugh, don't remind me. Hey, pass the lipstick?"

Behind your starry shades, the glowing light where your eyes should be narrows. You're not sure who the three in there are talking about, but for some reason it makes you feel pretty mad!

But there are other voices to listen to as well.

"So can you fix my laptop or not?" Comes from the door across the hall.

"I'm working on it. I mean, I don't have any tools with me or anything, but this seems like a software issue. Holy crap, no wonder you can't save anything, you've got no space on your hard drive. What are all these files?"

"Oh, those are my music samples! I've been working on my editing skills - Guess I saved a few more of them than I thought..."

Hm. Two ladies discussing technical sounding stuff. Anyone else?

"I'm just saying, I figure this kind of info would be useful to an up and coming journalist~ Look, we'll do lunch and discuss it in more detail then. Trust me, I overheard Press and her agent talking. This is the hottest kind of scoop."

Some wannabe news source talking on her phone from the sounds of it. Hm. A fame hungry glory hound? You can relate!
