With regards to Rufus Sewell, you mean? Or is that more a general thing (since my thread here was about a few different actors.)
ALSO not the right movie but we're talking about it: I'm SHOCKED you recognized Jon Snow that quickly. And not Michael Sheen. That was WILD. Jon Snow clean-shaven looks so different to me but you got it immediately, yet didn't get Michael Sheen right away. I'd have guessed the other way around *for sure*. (And you didn't say anything about Andy Samberg but I'm guessing that's because it was so obvious you didn't feel the need to.)

Sometimes I recognize the face, and I cannot for the life of me remember where I saw them. But I just know I love the actors

Dark City is on that list of movies that I personally loathed, and that's not a word I use often, that every once in a while someone will bring up his movie they love and I think maybe I should give it a second try. But I'm watching very little entertainment lately as I've been on more of the creative side of things presently. I don't really remember much about the movie I saw it when it came out and my brain is much like Swiss cheese now. But then again walk hard isn't high on my list I enjoyed it but I'm not particularly eager to see Ana react to it but I haven't exactly been spot on with movies here so I won't cry either. But most of the ones that I really did wanna see her react to tend to get three or four votes at best in the polls so...

I have so many things I want to share about this movie, but I'll keep it brief and just mention one thing: did you recognize Roland? That's Robert Baratheon.
(I just think that's fucking wild, because NOBODY seems to recognize him. And it's kinda fucking obvious, but also I never would've recognized him had I not seen it on imdb.)

Pretty much every reactor I like has reacted to The Princess Bride. Some of them ask for similar movies, and the response is pretty much unanimously "there's no movie like The Princess Bride."
BUT I think there are a few movies that have elements of what The Princess Bride has. Who Framed Roger Rabbit kind of... hard to explain exactly, but the sense of fun and whimsy? It doesn't take itself seriously at all but it's also fucking *impeccably* written, with such a great cast of characters with such a great grasp of characters, personalities...
A Knight's Tale also... again, it has that same sense of fun and adventure, it doesn't take itself seriously, it's got the medieval fantasy setting but it has no problem throwing in modern elements when it makes it more fun or funny or interesting... and at the center, such *heart*. With The Princess Bride, in addition to the great love story between Westley and Buttercup, of course, we have Indigo's quest to avenge his father, which ends so elegantly by having him take on the mantle of The Dread Pirate Roberts (and fittingly sailing the pirate ship "Revenge"); with A Knight's Tale... I've watched it at least a dozen times, and I never fail to tear up when William is reunited with his father and when Colville knights William. God what a satisfying movie.
Also, 2 quick things. I am going to continue to push for Walk Hard; it's maybe in my Mount Rushmore of movies (with The Princess Bride, The Big Lebowski, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit).
After that though, one dark horse that was on my list was Dark City. I wasn't necessarily gonna push too hard for it, but Rufus Sewell is the protagonist, and since Ana loves him, I may have to move it up my list, maybe the next movie after Walk Hard. So if you haven't seen it, I'd greatly appreciate if you checked it out, see if we all want her to react to it. (If the consensus among the patrons is that y'all have a lot more other movies you want to get through, fair enough. But I think it's a really fucking *interesting* movie, so... I want to try to at least get people to watch it so they can make an informed decision.)
2nd, and final, point: did you recognize Roland? That's Robert fucking Baratheon.

I studied Chaucer in high school. There's a memorably explicit bit in The Miller's Tale which is kind of seared into my brain. 🤣 Funny to see Chaucer as a character in a movie!

ALSO Adumar (sp?) plays the villain very often... but he was the main character in a movie I recommended once, "Dark City".
It's maybe not among my very favorites, but it's a pretty damn interesting and unique movie; I mostly want to keep pushing for "Walk Hard", but if/once I get it, "Dark City" may be in my next tier of movies I push for...
You said you love him? What from?

Also, Shannyn Sossamon was the pink-haired lady seen briefly in Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang.
She was big for a second... this, a bigger role in "Rules of Attraction" (based on a book by "American Psycho" writer Bret Easton Ellis; the latter adaptation was much much more popular), "40 Days and 40 Nights" opposite Josh Hartnett...

SO.... Geoffrey Chaucer wrote a classic book called "The Canterbury Tales". One of the tales was called The Knight's Tale.
So Chaucer is an important character in this interpretation, witnessing the tale then writing about it in his collection. (As well as lampooning the Priests, calling out their hypocrisy, a little moment that you'll recall from the movie.) And of course, him being such a blowhard writer informs his character, as he revels in the attention every time he introduces Sir Urich, getting more and more dramatic.

You knew going in that was the dude from "10 Things I Hate About You"; you recognized Alan Tudyk right away... did you recognize Robert Baratheon? (Have you seen Game of Thrones?)
(I'm only just now finding the time to watch, so... you may have realized it later, I'm like 3 mins in.)

Not to brag, but... yeah, I have good taste. I've recommended:
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Lucky Number Slevin
Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang
and now A Knight's Tale
I did NOT recommend The Princess Bride or The Big Lebowski, I don't think, but only because you got to them before I joined (this tier). Did I recommend Tucker & Dale? I think I might've, but not sure. It's one of my higher ranked horror movies... I don't think I did, but I may well have for an October rec if you specifically asked for horror? Not sure...
And I've been working on "Walk Hard" but so far, no dice. I have to assume people just haven't watched it? Because it's so fucking good. And... a few others, but none I'm as confident in as Walk Hard.
Fight Club and Se7en are on my list too. Obvious choices, but they're obvious for a reason. "Men Who Stare At Goats" and "Mr Right" are on my list too... but unlike, say, Slevin or KKBB or (to some degree, at least) WFRR, they aren't all-time great movies that are under-reacted-to; they're great, but not all-time great. "7 Days in Hell" is great too... I think that's like a 50 minute documentary, so I may just choose that for a "binge watch" soon... will have to watch it again to see if it's as good as I remember though...
among my top tier of movies that I didn't name... American Psycho is way up there but I'm not sure if you'll love it nearly as much as I do. And "GI Joe: The Movie" I'm definitely nowhere near confident thinking you'll like it enough to make it worth cashing it in as the one movie we get a month. (Even aside from the question of whether or not it could ever win, which it couldn't.)
"The Mummy" is, in my mind, almost a companion piece to "A Knight's Tale" in terms of being this incredibly fun adventure movie that's just so great across every element: writing, cast, chemistry, and the execution... I'm pretty sure you said you've seen The Mummy before but not 100%. You have, right?
I think Zoolander was me too.

I had no idea what to expect going into that. I've gotta learn to trust you guys more that's twice now you showed me a movie I didn't think I'd like that I really enjoyed. Unfortunately it's more than two hours long and dropbox only allows two hours so now i have to download the whole thing to watch what's probably about four more minutes. Small price to pay for an evening's enjoyment.
