After the series was over I bought and read the books. They are rather different than the series and it probably comes down to whichever you indulge in first but I found the series better. There was a nice call back in this very episode because for some reason the Margo character is named Janet- and in this episode the librarian calls her Janet which I thought was funny. The books are probably worth reading if you don't expect them to be - this.
