Marshall Emberton - frequency response measurement

Before preparing a full video I wanted to post some measurements of the Emberton.
It was measured at different volume levels from front and back and directly from the side.

I am still torn about the overall sound and I am not quite sure how I could "sell" it to you. It has some qualities, but the strong boomy bass (especially too much above 100hz) puts it down as there is no way to control bass like on all other Marshall speakers. I expected some kind of mini Stockwell II but it's rather a mini Kilburn.

If not the great looks, the unique front/back driver layout which gives some nice openness to the sound and the outstanding battery, I think you can get way better sounding speakers for much less, eg. the Tribit MaxSound Plus.

I found the flybuds 3 to sound smoother with the sony mh1 tips but they dont fit in the case this way so thats a bummer.

That seems to be a problem with true wireless earbuds, the JBL Live 300 I had tried recently had a noticible right bias with deeper bass on the right and I also heard it on the Taotronics Soundliberty 79 and I just checked on Amazon US and the Tevis seem to be out of stock and only the Ivory color is listed which I beleive that variant has the firmware update preinstalled from what I have heard.

Yes I had a pair which I let them swap, that was slightly louder on one side.

It seems hard to find a great one, do any of your pairs of Lypertek Tevis have any sound bias towards the right? I may order them again but I am concerned about that.

Exactly, I didn’t like the Tribits either. My Lyperteks are still fine( I have 2 pairs just in case 1 fails. Also tried the Galaxy Buds+ and didn’t like them despite the fact that they are so close to Harman Target.

Thanks for the headsup, yes, the firmware update for the Tevi does worsen the sound, it makes them too bass heavy and thick but I also noticed some bias towards the right later on, I'm not sure if it was caused by the update or if it was a defect and they would always fit a bit funny, shame because the Tevi sounded great. I also got the Tribit Flybuds 3 but they don't sound all that great (improved with different tips but still)

Yes I have them, but they don’t sound good. Treble is peaky. The Lypertek Tevi remain my favorite TWS IEMs although they allegedly updated the firmware which should make it sound worse.

Hey Oluv, it's cool to be on here on Patreon, have you tried the Earfun Air? They look interesting but I wasn't crazy for the Earfun Free (regular version)

Thanks, I have we can have lots of fun in future.

Hello Oluv I Has been watching your reviews for some time. When I compared you with other audio reviews I think that you are doing the best to be objective. I bought the Soundcore motion plus based on your review and I am happy with it. Wish you the best with this patreon project

Right out of the box you saved me the cost (and disappointment) of the Emberton.

So far I only tried the Flip 5 in a store and was not that impressed especially being mono. Have you ever tried the Tribit MaxSound Plus? They are pretty cheap, currently 42€ on amazon.de, I would even say that this one sounds better than the Marshall, more balanced and not as boomy. I like the front/back driver layout of the Emberton but listening to it for several days now I rather won’t like to listen with it on a daily basis.

I am curious as to hear a comparison to the JBL flip 5. I have two of them and honestly i don't really like the sound that much but i do really like the build quality, waterproof rating and the loudness. There decent pack and forget travel speakers. That's why i am very intrigued about the Emberton. If it sounds better then the flip 5 i am going to order one. because i love the waterproof rating and the crazy long battery life. I watched the unboxing video and it looks promising it would slay the flip 5. I need to find a way to justify another speaker. I have 2 Tribit micros on my road bike, a amazon studio in my kitchen, a jbl boombox 2, hyperboom, stockwell 2, two A1 gen II's and A1 gen I, a beoplay P2, a vifa city, a motion plus, a urbanears ralis, a wonderboom 2, a Doss XXL so im sitting hear with a part of me saying to myself "you dumb ass STOP buying speakers" then the other part of me is like "well its just one more" famous last words.

It’s rather broadband thus not that annoying. The bass which already raises below 1khz is the biggest problem I think

Oluv'Sone

Can you hear the peak at around 2k - 3kHz? Seems to be quite emphasised.
