Virtual cycling/walking...

Maybe some of you are not aware of my secondary Youtube channel, where I try to create some kind of POV videos with binaural audio as realistic as I manage with my cheap setup:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwinbEP_XgAzmh3cyFphiiw

Lately I invested lots of time to experiment with the Insta360 1-inch comparing it directly to the Gopro Hero 8. I also just ordered the brand new Hero 9 to see how that could fit into my setup.

It took lots of time to process, edit, encode these videos, as I try to add some motion blur in post processing which is quite computationally intensive, thus my PC was blocked for some days now and I didn't have the possibility to do any new content.

I am still trying to find the best and easiest setup for such kind of videos, as I cannot and don't want to use any big cameras with additional gimbals for this, to keep the entire setup as small and light as possible, not to mention all the costs.

Feel free to check some of my videos there. I also posted my rainy tent video here, which I had already planned before: https://youtu.be/syRix1zfx2I

Videos like that in bad lighting conditions would be impossible to shoot with a Gopro, while  cycling or running videos with lots of movement like above give much better results out of a Gopro with ReelSteady stabilisation in post.

The only usable commercial solutions are those from Sound Professionals but I wouldn’t recommend them as they brake so easily. Sound man OKM is overpriced and very hissy. The Roland CS-10 dont sound good. Sennheiser has the Ambeo set which only works with Lightning or USB. I got another set for a review but it’s also only phone based and quite hissy as well.

Thanks for your time. If you can share how to get to a decent setup for the binaural recording, it would be great. Stephane's site that you share does not seem to contain such info. And on the Primo related stuff, it seems one most do DIY stuff to attach these mics properly. Maybe you shared already info on this topic, I'm new around here, sorry if I missed it.

They are the same capsules but the mics I use for headphones are smaller to get them deeper into my ears. The capsules are simple ones from Primo, but I apply lots of equalizing to get the sound right.

Congrats, great immersive experience. image quality and stabilisation are very good, but the sound is just amazing. You are using the same in ear binaural microphones that you use for the earphone reviews? (Stepahne Pigeon). Are they available for sale, or this magic comes from processing as well?

I think the best TV experience you can have from Android TV box with Chromecast built-in. Youtube 4K, Dolby and DTS audio are available (depends on exact model). There are some Xiaomi TV boxes and soon Google will release it's own TV dongle.

My wife's Windows 10 gaming desktop is hooked up to her TV. The video looked absolutely beautiful.

How do you watch on TV? I have a FireTV 4K stick but the YouTube app goes only up to 1080p which is compressed too much, I think 1440p should look better with less artefacts.

My wife and I watched the cycling video on our TV. Super relaxing to watch. I'm going to try it with my Samsung VR headset while I exercise. I will definitely be subscribing to your channel.
