Verum 1 MK II - first impressions

it's finally on arrival, they "forgot" to send me the replacement. As soon as it arrives I will try doing something. But I still need some time to optimize my recording setup

The Verum sound flat to me with original pads. Maybe even with the new pads as well at times. Close to reference monitor headphones. Was it also your experience? Also, the Sennheiser in the video sound so "small" in comparison, it's unbelievable.

I think that compared to the old one, the new one has a somewhat smoother sounding treble and deeper bass with possibly a bit less midbass with the stock pads. With the Ori suede pads, it MK II sounded more airy than with the stock pads, but almost a little harsh at times.

I haven't noticed any difference in sound regardless if played from my iphone or from the L30 or A90

Just ordered my Verum 1 MK II! I would love to hear a comment about amplification in your review, do we really need $1k amp to get the most out of these headset? I know that Verum requires high currents low impedance amp to shine, any suggestion? Thank you!

I am afraid the recording with my new microphones was a bit rushed. It didn’t capture the sound that well, I found the sound to be closer to what I hear when I swapped the pads to the ZMF Ori Suede pads. Then you can also definitely hear the stronger coloration of the old version more. I will need to work a bit more on my recording setup.

on my HD650 Verum-1 VII sounds more immersive. Like the soundstage and openness. Thank you for the great review!

To be honest the first generation of the Verum sounds for my ears in the upper part sometimes better. You often mentioned the coloration but I can´t hear this like you hear it. On 10:57 the MKII sounds on the other hand a bit better. I think it`s hard to compare over Youtube.

It`s a little bit tricky to compare the Verum and the Sennheiser because every time you change the headphone they sounding so different to me in terms of the highs. I could come to the feel more is better but this is perhaps not the truth.
