I should have posted this way before, as I wanted to share my EQ settings I did for some of my headphones,
Here you can find my setting for the HD560S, HE4XX and the SHP9500. I also included the setting for Sundara 2020 I used in my previous video. Also the HD560S and HE4XX were played with exactly these settings in that video.
I had many more but the ES100 only allows to save 4 user presets, so those were the ones I used most lately, otherwise I'd need to overwrite one of them. I also had one for the LCD-1, ESP/95X, and HD800. The one for the HD800 was suprisingly similar to the one for the SHP9500 just with less boost overall.
I don't claim that these are the ultimate settings for each of these headphones also the EQ for the Sundara is not that great as it cannot reduce the ugly peak which sits exactly in between 2 bands. But apart from the Sundara these bring the overall tonality of the given headphones quite close, at least to me, or close enough to me that I wouldn't bother and I can enjoy the sound way more with EQ than without. Of course you could fine tune any of them, but you would need a fully parametric EQ for this.
The Q was set to 1.4142 (narrow) within Radsone's EQ control setting. These filters could also work well with some other common 1 octave 10-band EQs. I use similar values for my Shanling M1, although the resulting sound is not 100% equal.
The DT770 with some foam mod didn't require any EQ for me, as I could also "tune" treble with an off-axis placement. Also the Elex played for me just fine without any EQ, as long as it played....
I will try adding further adjustments here in case I get some interesting headphone worth being used with some EQ, but to be honest I don't care about equalizing a 1000$ headphone, as this shouldn't need any EQ to begin with, while getting really great results out of a cheap headphone like the SHP9500 just with some slight EQ adjstment is way more fun.
Still curious to hear the Empyrean, which should arrive soon...
