Can a $10 headphone sound better than a $700 or $3000 one?

This will cause lots of buzz and hate on Youtube I am pretty sure.

I will publish it later tonight.

First I would like to let you listen "blind" and reveal all 3 headphones in the follow up video also posting my EQs for the Sony for you to try them out as well.

Hi Olaf, when do you want to provide the "Solving" (A is.. B is,.. C is ..) or did I miss anything currently? I'm really looking forward who is the 10$ stuff - best regards

I think there is a fundamental problem trying to tune $10 headphones, which is (in my opinion) also partly the reason why all those people's equalizer settings sound so distinct (and mostly bad) .... the reason is, with such a cheap diaphragm drivers and probably no quality control, the sound signature (if I may even use such word in this case, haha) of each particular unit probably varies quite dramatically, so they all measure very different :)

After listening to the introductory Meze clip, I think A is Meze, B is Elex, C is Sony. C sounds pretty bad. A and B sound pretty good.

C best? I wonder which headphone you use for listening?

Oluv'Sone

C sounds best to me B is the worst

In my opinion A was the closest to the original recording, which for my taste is a bit to boomy, for I don’t really like the sound of the bassdrum in that Song at all. I am a drummer and so I sure have my personal taste how drums should sound, always depending on the music and the whole production. Listening with my Earfun Pro OE. C is the worst sounding, I think A is Focal, B is Sony with your tuning and C is the Meze (hard to believe, if that is right)

I enjoyed B the most, and C was the worst in my opinion. Will be interesting to see, which is which.

I think the current shipping date is 19th

Hi Oluv, do you have any info about the production and shipping the second group of your Earfun TWS earbuds?

The DT770 doesn’t need eq when used properly and if the ports are filled with some foam.

Oluv'Sone

Oluv, what about Eq-ing "interesting" headphones, such as DT770? Oratory's eq is not bad but it kills their wide sound stage, which is the main reason to use them anyways. I think you can do better because the earfun OE has such an open/wide sounding even so it's in-ear.

If C was the Meze, I'd be very disappointed.

That would be my guess too.

This is interesting, because I have a pair of these Sony headphones (bought them for my daughter to use in her Zoom classes... pink colour!). I wonder what equalizer you use that has 30 bands! Do you use it in the Mac computer?

my guess is: A- focal, B- meze, C- Sony

I guess... a) Focal b) Sony c) Meze

A- Sony B- Elex C-Empyrean In my experience, there is hardly any relationship between the price of a headset and its sound quality. This depends almost entirely on the frequency response. There are several target curves, and then there is personal taste, so a expensive (or cheap) headset may or may not come close to your ideal sound. And if we talk about a flat response, studio headphones, some very cheap, are the ones that most often approximate this curve. So regardless of the price of a headphone, equalizing it always makes sense. An expensive headphone may offer a better sound scene, maybe ... other parameters such as timbre, dynamics or a fast response, ... well, some say that they are also included within the frequency response. The Empyrean offers top build quality, and luxury. I do think they have a strong sonic signature, even after equalizing (I use the crinacle parametric proposal), which is a very detailed sound but at the same time soft and warm. I have other headphones, expensive and cheap, and equalizing to the same curve, they all sound similar, a little different, but not better or worse, different.

A- Elex B- MDR-ZX110 C- Empyrean

Also A würde ich nehmen, denke ich.

Don't just upload to YouTube. Our boy Sean Olive should be delivered a CD of this video to his doorstep.

There was no best, they all sounded really bad.

Oluv'Sone

That’s a miss belief, acoustic music contains little above 3khz. Up to 3khz they sound nearly the same

Oluv'Sone

Hi Oluv, there will be a prize for the best EQ?

My guess: A-Sony, B-Focal, C-Meze or A-Focal and B-Sony Listening with 560s with Oluv`s EQ Would be easier to guess with some acoustic music than this track in my opition..

A- Focal B- Meze C- Sony

A=sony (most natural) B=Elex (slightly too boomy and mids lacking a little bit) C=Emperyean (midbass bump and boosted treble) Listening with earfun free pro oe.

Tony Wisman

do you have an Equalizer APO profile for Oratory's EQ?

Oluv'Sone

A - most natural and similar to source. B - too boosted treble, cymbals sounds annoying (also slightly too boomy). C - horrible v-shape.

A - Focal Elex B - Sony MDR-ZX110 C - Meze Emyprean Listened over HD58x with Oratoty1990 Eq, B sounded most similar to the original to me.

Why not the Earfun OE? 🤣

Oluv'Sone

You might want to post these on youtube though might become viral haha

Yeah C sounded the worst to me. While A sounded the best. Listening this through samsung akg in ears though.

Headphone C sounded the most different from A and B
