Thank you for the link! Given that, it's very curious that I've never heard corrections from anyone but my dad, considering I've generally found myself surrounded by people with at least a little prescriptivism in them. I'll have to listen to the Grammar Girl episode it mentions

2017-06-22 21:33:14 +0000 UTCBut also, re topics: linguistics research is still getting over 50% of the vote (the "both" option + its individual entry) so it most likely won't be the very next bonus, but we'll definitely keep it around for future consideration! (We may have to adjust this at some point in the future if we start getting zillions of $10 patrons sending in gazillions of topic nominations, but for now we're running polls with max 2 topics + a "both" option for precisely this reason. Otherwise we might end up with a ridiculously extensive array of options like a+b, b+c, a+c, all of the above, just to give each option its fair voting weight. Apparently this is where my linguistics nerd and voting systems nerd intersect - is it too much to petition Patreon for a ranked ballet polling option??)

2017-06-22 20:57:27 +0000 UTCSince hypercorrection's leading and there's only a couple days left, I wanted to mention something I've never heard from anyone but my dad. Growing up, he'd always correct me when I said something happened "on accident" (via standard dad joke: "what were you doing on an accident? That's dangerous!"), to "by accident". I'm only a hobbyist so I have no idea where this correction even comes from or if it actually is a grammatical rule I've just never come across anywhere else, but it's stuck with me.
