This time I'm sharing the pin-up inks from The Annihilator's Origin Card, again by artist Gabriel Mayorga. The Origin card pin-ups show early uses of a character's powers. Before The Annihilator became the notorious super-villain we've all grown to love, he got his start as a young man working enforcement for the Mob. Here we see him easily handling some bodyguards while shaking this guy down. The Annihilator is in his twenties here, so when this is colored, there will be no grey hair. Hmmm. I wonder when he decided to grow the beard? I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek. It's up a bit late because I have TYP penciler Adam DeKraker and colorist Veronica Gandini in town this weekend to sign a whole lotta copies of TYP V1 for the Kickstarter, and Adam and I just spent the whole night talking shop. It's been lots of fun having them here and especially with hosting Adam in my apartment. It's really the first time we've had a chance to get to know each other "outside of work" and it turns out we have tons in common. Now that the signing is done, Adam and I have been talking for hours about our favorite TV shows, future ideas for The Young Protectors, what makes for good art, family stuff, career stuff, life stuff, really the whole spectrum. I feel like I did when I was a teenager, staying up all night playing D&D and having hours-long geeky conversations with my best friends. It's been an amazing amount of fun and has me fired up to create even more awesome stuff for The Young Protectors. :) More soon!
