(I know I would see it this way) Duncan's posturing and correcting of Kyle about how he should be described and "being careful of his words." Then in opposition, Kyle's rather off-handed musings about what he thinks and how he really perceives, Duncan. **Because if you ARE going to die, who cares right? It's truly adult and what we so often THINK, when we read scenes like this. Love that. It's like the guy tied to the chair who says, "I can't tell you, 'he'll' kill me!" and the hero says... "Geeze, I'm going to kill you NOW, get your priorities straight!" Thanks Alex. Just plain good writing.
