Thank you all so much!

We just moved past $7000 in support for the first time in over a year, which means that after paying my artists, other comic expenses, rent, taxes, etc. that I'm now breaking even again! This is huge. And I'm so grateful to all of you.

The truth is, I don't like sharing any personal troubles with y'all; I'd much rather talk about all the cool things I'm creating for you to enjoy. But there were a couple comments on the last webcomic page that made me feel like y'all might not know what a big difference your support makes in my ability to make this comic, and in my life.

Making these comics is my only source of income; my last video editing job finished in May of 2015. The only way I've been able to keep the comic (and my life) going is because of your generous support. When my father passed away last year, there was a little money he left me. Not a lot—and most of it went to paying off debt—but it gave me a little buffer for the last year. That buffer is almost out, and so, even though it wasn't 100% comfortable for me, I started to mention a few months back that Patreon support had declined and I haven't been breaking even for over a year.

As I said in my Q&A under the "Legendary" title page, ultimately whether the Young Protectors comic and this Patreon succeeds or fails is on my shoulders. It's up to me to create work that gives real value to people's lives. I know some creators might feel like their readers "owe" them for something—and that's not me. I'm tremendously grateful to y'all just for being such wonderful readers. That's what's important to me.

But the moment I started mentioning that I wasn't breaking even, y'all immediately jumped in to help.  Since May, over 300 new readers have either joined or re-joined this Patreon.  And here we are now, just a few months later, and the support is still increasing, which means I might not just break even, but I might even be able to start building my savings back up.

I know I tell y'all that you are superheroes. That I am grateful to you. I know I do that a lot. But I just want you to know that those aren't just words to me. Your support really and truly matters. This comic would not exist without you. I would not be able to do this without your support. You not only make it possible for me to have this be my full time job (which is awesome), but you also support my artists making their livings too.

Of course, I do hope you're enjoying the rewards I create for this Patreon. I love making fun stuff for y'all, and reading your enthusiastic comments puts a huge smile on my face. But please just also know that your support really and truly matters. I couldn't do this without you. 

I am very grateful to all of you for making our comic with LGBT heroes possible and for giving me the opportunity to make my living this way. I know it's a rare gift, and I hope you'll continue to enjoy what I'm putting out there.
