Kyle, your eyes are so pretty. OPEN THEM AND REALLY LOOK AT YOUR FRIEND.

This is a SPECIAL LEGENDARY PAGE for Patrons — Don’t want these in your regular email Inbox? Click here. :)

So! Kyle loves Spooky just the way he is. And it seems like Kyle has a pretty clear idea of what he thinks that means. Is he right? How do his words make Spooky feel? And would Spooky be willing to do what they just did again?

Tune in this Wednesday to find out! Hope to see you there!

The Young Protectors - Legendary Chapter One, Page 34

I kind of hope Spooky slaps Kyles pretty little face next page, because he is dead wrong. He might well be as poor at reading signals as I am, but even I get that this relationship is important to Spooks and he wants to be more than a f**k buddy. Spooks heart must be completely broken.

That’s still a pretty uncool thing to do. Spooky said within the first few pages that this wasn’t just a favor to him, and Kyle has been stuffing those words back down his throat the entire night, saying he knows who Spooky really is. I’m actually starting to think that it wasn’t a great decision for Spooky to follow through on the sex since from the very outset Kyle was being pretty dismissive of Spooky’s own statements of his feelings. Like, I get why he still did it - maybe he had hopes that there would be a more earnest conversation afterwards, or any number of things. But according to the first few pages, Kyle has been consistent in stonewalling any conversation Spooky tries to start with him about dating, including now, where Spooky tries to talk about the possibility of the two of them dating. There has been a bit of “Spooky’s been consistently noncommittal!” going on in the comments both here and at Yaoi911, but Kyle has been consistently evasive on this issue, even before Duncan came into the frame. Given that, I think both of them are in a defensive posture here, and with understandable reasons on both sides.

Could it be that Kyle is saying what he's saying to sort of *bait* Spooky into saying what Spooks is obviously thinking? A little self-defense, so he doesn't completely throw himself out there and have Spooky say, "Naw, man. This was just for fun. NEXT!!" The last panel leaves a HUGE door open for Spooks to tell Kyle EXACTLY what he wants... If he does, maybe Kyle will respond along the lines of "Oh thank GAWD!! Me Too, Spooky!!!"

Yep, I'm right there with you. I didn't know you read this comic. Now we have something new to talk about over lunch. :)

I don't think Kyle sees Spooky as a booty call. I just think Kyle is really blind here about Spooky feelings and try not to be heartbroken because he believes that Spooky don't feel anything for him. After all when Kyle asks in the first page " somethink like love ? " and spooky told him it can also be friendship, at this moment I'm certain Kyle was thinking that spooky was just here to help him with is fire problems or that he was only interessed in sex.

Damn, Kyle is really showing his age and lack of experience here. Asking all the wrong questions, telling Spooky about himself like he knows it all, and failing to ask the ONE question that matters--How do you feel about me--are all dead giveaways to how immature and insecure Kyle really is. I hope Spooky can see through all that and help Kyle realize some things about what this could be if he would just SHUT UP AND LISTEN, but judging from the look on Spooky's face when he got friends-with-benefits-zoned, this mess will take a while to unravel. :-(

I love the “Open your eyes and really look at your friend!” caption for this page. In response to David, I don’t know that Spooky “should be taking more responsibility for managing this conversation.” Spooky wanted to know what Kyle thought about the possibility of being in a more serious relationship with him, so he kept nudging for more info and got an earful once again. I feel such heartbreak for Spooky. I honestly hope he says no to further sexual involvement with Kyle. Knowing that Kyle thinks of him basically as a booty call while Spooky has been saying this entire time that he is homoromantic so sex with Kyle isn’t all that casual for him would be a no-go in my book for trusting someone enough to continue being sexually intimate with them.

I mean look at Spooks' face in like every panel. He clearly wants to say something but he wants to be sure Kyle wants the same thing before he does. If Kyle doesn't want the same thing, living up to the facade he believes is probably just easier and leads to less heartbreak.

Well, I mean, I don't blame _Kyle_, because he's young and inexperienced and has plenty of reasons to be deeply fucked up around sex and relationships, given what experiences he _has_ had. Honestly, I think Spooky should be taking a lot more responsibility for managing this conversation. But if I ignore Kyle's background and just treat him as someone presumably mature enough to be having romantic relationships in the first place, yeah, I think he's failing to pick up on some pretty obvious signals that _something_ isn't right. And in general, a good thing to do when things aren't quite right is to stop telling other people how they feel and what they want, and ask them instead.

Can you blame Kyle's for believing such a good act? Just tell him you want him spooky
