Script for Double Cross Chapter Two, Page 2

Ah, roger that. Sorry about the mixup!

You want to see bad exposition on a compelling show - go watch HBO's Watchmen and find the website where they explain everything. That's not a nice thing to do to viewers but it works for Watchmen.

I read all the way through the script and didn't realize that page 3's portion was attached until after it was fixed.

Dave

Glad you like how I handled that, Dave. Got to get everyone caught up. Quickly. :)

What differences are you seeing, Dave?

Alex Woolfson

Exposition. Exposition. Exposition. This exposition required two pages. Good way to work out the problem of identity and Spooky’s behavior (past, present and future). I know two good examples. The first is the entire movie “The Martian” that has to explain the scientific reason behind every decision Mark Watney makes to stay alive on Mars. The movie doesn’t come off as preachy or teachy or boring to an audience. Worst of all for the story is that we all know going into the first scene that Mark Watney survives but the story of how entertains. The second occurs in the movie “The Da Vinci Code” when about 1/3 into the movie when Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveu arrive at Chateau Villette and meet Sir Leigh Teabing. What occurs is at least ten to fifteen minutes of pure historical exposition explaining The Grail, the Priory of Scion, the Templars, Opus Dei, Black Friday, and DaVinci’s Last Supper. Somehow, it works and doesn’t sound like a narrator doing a voice over.

I'm intrigued and curious ... ... ... There must be interesting reasons behind the differences between the artwork and the script.
