The Young Protectors: Double Cross Chapter Two—Page 34

Dude, you’re in a building without electricity—what’s with the shades?

You can talk about this page at The Young Protectors Community here.

Stay Safe and Thank You

Wow, crazy times, huh? Things have moved so fast with the coronavirus pandemic.

Please let me pause for a brief moment of reality in the midst of fun Spooky/Flyboy adventures to just check in with you.

I've just been thinking about y'all a lot. We have an international readership, and many folks in China and Europe have suffered greatly. And are still having a difficult time. Here in the U.S., we're just now starting to run into trouble with the healthcare systems in New York reporting becoming overwhelmed. On a personal note, as many of you know, my fiancé Fernando and I have plans to get married this June—we've been planning this wedding for 3 years—and now that's completely up in the air. And that will likely seem to a very small problem in the weeks to come. On government orders, my fiancé's office has closed down and I haven't left my apartment for almost a week.

Like I said, crazy times.

But one of the things that is getting me through this, as I shelter-in-place here in California, is knowing you're all out there. In the last few days, some old faces have resumed their pledges on Patreon or increased them. There are new folks joining too. That support makes a huge difference in these uncertain times for me being able to continue this comic. And I am very grateful to you all for doing that.

And I am also grateful to those of you who have just let me know that these comics matter to you. Knowing that we're creating something that makes a difference in other people's lives, even if it just gives them a smile, keeps me sane and hopeful for the future. I'm hard at work putting the last touches on the script for Chapter 3, and picturing your reactions to every joke, every action beat, and the special surprises I have in store, is a big source of joy for me. Especially now.

Please stay safe, all of you. You're very important to me. Be even more cautious with washing your hands and creating physical distance than you think you need to be. (The infections that are being reported now really just show where we were 14 days ago.) And be more kind to others, especially those who are different, than you have been before.

There will absolutely, 100% be happier days ahead. And we will get through this. Together. We have the most awesome community in comics here. So just keep being awesome. :)

And if you get a chance, please reach out in the comments below and let me know how you are doing. Because I'm thinking about y'all. A lot.

Big hugs.

NEW PATRON THANK YOUS

The only reason I’m able to keep making The Young Protectors is because of the very generous support of readers like you on Patreon. And we had a bunch of new folks sign up over the last few days! So, please join me in sending out a very special thank you and welcome to the new members of the Woolfpack this week!

Shard, Erik C. and Tim Z.

Thank you so much for your amazing support, Shard, Erik and Tim!

And let’s also please thank totally awesome readers who were already Patrons, but who upped their pledge this week:

Joseph J.

(Thank you so much, Joseph!)

Thank you all so much for your amazing support! You and the other members of the Woolfpack are all the real superheroes of this comic!

So!

So! Spooky was able to handle five evil, robed magic users easily enough, one more won’t matter, right? He seems a pleasant sort of chap, anyway—maybe they can hug it out? And why does that thing next to him look so familiar?

Tune in this Wednesday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

You're very welcome for the comics, my friend. Thank you so much for your continued support! It might be a while before things get back to normal, but hopefully sooner rather than later. We just need to stick it out for now. Keep calm and carry on, right? :)

Alex Woolfson

Sorry to hear you've been sick, William! I hope you get all better soon. It's been a crazy month for all the obvious reasons, but I'm doing OK. Glad to hear that so many of our readers are doing OK too.

Alex Woolfson

I definitely believe in humanity and human ingenuity. We will get through this. Together. :) Thank you very much for the good wishes! And yes, one way or another, we will find a way to celebrate that will be very satisfying.

Alex Woolfson

Thanks for the comics; we've got a lock down now in the UK, so only meant to leave the house for 1 period of exercise and "foods"... This could be a long period...

Adam Wagner

Well, been sick as of two weeks last Friday. No. Not the "corona" thing. Just a flu or extended cold. Had to cancel many things because you are not allowed to cough in public! It is now Monday and the cough seems to have quieted greatly, finally. I may be able to catch up on appointments for my shoulder therapy and such. How was you month?

Suddenly the whole world changed, it's bizarre and a bit overwhelming. But I also believe we can make it through with each other. I'm here in the Netherlands and I am happy teleworking from home. I am lucky and healthy. I wish you also this luck and health. I can imagine that your wedding will not be as you had imagined but you are a very creative human being so I think you will find a way that will be even satisfying.

Niekchen

Thank you, QueBijoux! Glad to hear you are doing OK. Yes, it does seem like more folks are taking this seriously, and I'm a believer in humanity (when it's sufficiently motivated), so hopefully enough can change so we can go back to mostly normal come this June. Fingers crossed. And thank you also for the props re: the story. That means a lot to me, and it good to hear you're looking forward to what comes next. :) I'm glad to hear you can telework. Keep staying safe!

Alex Woolfson

Thank you, Goodyear. Fernando and I are doing well. Still keeping hopeful. Really good to hear from you. :)

Alex Woolfson

Hugs back, Jim! And I wonder if The Platinum Priestess will make an appearance... .....

Alex Woolfson

Hugs back, Kendall! Glad to hear you are doing OK. Keep staying safe, my friend. :)

Alex Woolfson

Reports I've read said this isn't going to end anytime soon, but if we flatten the curve enough, perhaps we can start getting back to "normal," or whatever will pass for it for a while. Hope that will mean your wedding can go off on schedule. At least you're both still healthy! Other than quick (necessary) errands, we're keeping to the house here in DC. Thank goodness we can both telework! As for the story, it's progressing really well, with the action keeping us engaged with each page. So interested in finding out where this goes.

QueBijoux

I hope you and Fernando are doing well, Alex, and not going too stir-crazy with the social isolation. Hopefully things look up over the next month or so and your wedding plans will be unaffected by the time it rolls around <3

Goodyear

Oh, and what's with the Annihilator and the robes?

Jim

Lots of hugs, Alex. So, when does Sircea (sp?) make her appearance?

Jim

HUGE HUGS, ALEX! I'm doing okay, working from home. Stay safe and well, and that goes for everyone here.
