The Fly Full-Length Reaction!

NO ONE TOLD ME GEENA DAVIS WAS IN THIS MOVIE??? I'd have watched it MUCH SOONER. Hehehehe jk jk. What a cast, and also... WHAT INSANE PRACTICAL EFFECTS!! YAAA!!!

Comments

Finally subbed after enjoying your stuff on Youtube. Been slowly working my way back through various reactions, and was STOKED to see this. Along with The Thing and An American Werewolf in London, this easily makes my favorite movies ever list.

Nictus Hazeldine

What could be more horrifyingly disgusting than giving birth to a giant maggot? As disgusting as that final scene was, w/ all the puking and dissolving body parts, it brought a tear (just one😉) to my eye when he pulled the shotgun barrel to his head, wanting her to kill him. It was heartbreaking b/c you knew he was still in there, somewhere.

Cl8on

I have Never recovered from the arm wrestling scene. Since childhood, that one left an impression on me so deeply that every time I watched Over the Top with Sylvester Stallone I kept expecting compound fractures galore!

Jason L

Long live the new flesh!

Jeff

If you're interested this was probably the breakout for Cronenberg but his style of "body horror" is something just on a whole other level, he had kind of stages, Rabid and Shivers, great films but you can see he's honing his skills etc down and the budget is hurting, the Brood was kind of a middle ground and then everything from there through the late 80s is just utter gold If you want another that's maybe a bit more esoteric but still undoubtedly cronenberg, Videodrome always stuck with me, people mention scanners which is great, but videodrome I just couldn't stop thinking about for weeks after seeing it as a kid. Consequently, his son, Brendan Cronenberg has really taken the torch of body horror, that we aren't at peace with our bodies and eventually they turn on us and ran with it...he's done two I've seen, Antiviral and Possessor, and both were absolutely brilliant works straight from his father's heyday, videodrome is one of those must see horror movies with a compelling premise you really should see if you want more from this amazing Canadian director.

Andrew Hussey

Since you love Jeff Goldblum, you should watch “Earth Girls are Easy”. He’s really sexy under his blue fur. With Geena Davies, Damon Wayans (I think) and a really young Jim Carrey. It’s a comedy though, so nothing for your youtube channel :)

Lars-Ove Karlsson

I know an old lady who swallowed a fly I don't know why she swallowed the fly Perhaps she'll die . . .

Jeff

But did anybody find it weird that in her dream nightmare her Lamaze Coach was the a$$hole ex-boyfriend. How many movies does the a$$hole ex-boyfriend become the hero??? Cronenberg threw movie tropes out the window with this one. And how many think that Geena goes back with him after the ending credits? He had his hand and foot dissolved by a human fly. That has got to beat flowers and candy!

Jeremy Vickers

This was great!

Jeremy Vickers

GEENA!!! Hehehe excitement right out the gate INDEED! Gotta watch more Cronenberg..

Kat

Wow. Honestly, wish this exact sentence had been my outro. PERFECT SUMMARY.

Kat

YAA HOOO!!! bzzzzz..zzz...zz.zzz!

Kat

Right??!

Kat

Oooo! 100% worth a re-watch, for the practical effects if nothing else. But there is lots of "else"! < -- that made sense in my head. LOL

Kat

Can't believe there's a part 2... WORTH A WATCH??

Kat

THIS. SO STRUE!!

Kat

HAHAHAHA SYMON!! I love that this movie moves you to tears. I AM LEARNING ABOUT YOU ALL THE TIME!! I won't say spoilers but I had high hopes for them.. JEFF AND GEENA!! COME ON!!!!

Kat

LOL I LOVE THE COMMENTARY. DON'T STOP EVER.

Kat

YAY FRANK!!! Thank YOU for watching them with me, HERE AND ON YOUTUBE!! Honestly, CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU MAKE. I've always wanted to play the drums. MAYBE NOW IS MY CHANCE?? Lots of the effects in here reminded me of the thing... I'm such a sucker for practical effects!!!

Kat

LOL. Dream romcom cast TBH.

Kat

Another successful delivery from Dr. Cronenberg! This reaction was a lot of fun, excitement right from the opening credits!

ooklafuge

What a beautiful, grotesque, heartfelt, cynical, disaster of a fascination.

William Steinlicht

The Fly?! YASSSSSS!

sarCC

So if it reproduces you, are you still you? Or a brand new being with your memories, picking up your train of consciousness from where you got switched off?

Zensonar

Ooh I have not seen this in a while...

Mannygogou

Now, if you're still wondering what happened to her baby... "The Fly II" (1989). It's not really a spoiler, since the movie is built around the whole basic premise, and the movie poster prominently says, "Like father, like son."

Thomas Yanez

I've always liked Stathis' arc in this. He doesn't actually change, but the audience's perception of him swings 180 based on just how important he becomes relative to her alternatives.

Thomas Yanez

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! This is one of my favourite horror movies EVERRRR. And one of the very few that makes my cry like a five year old who dropped his ice-cream. Look. Shut up. YOU'RE crying! I'm not crying! I can't wait to see your reaction! And once again for emphasis EEEEEEEE!! p.s. I am seriously lagging behind. I'm only now watching The Babadook with you.

Symon O'Hagan

Hey First time watching a full reaction. I stop now! Haha!

Frank Craven

I think he means it does not reproduce the flesh the way it should be, not reproduce or copy the flesh, just a computer's interpretation. Kinda like today's music. Haha! Just kidding. The pods are designed reassemble from Pod A to B. But computer has a big question mark in the hard drive and does its best to define flesh in its own way. That's why Seth had to 'teach' the HP who's boss. To be excited about the flesh. Like we all are. To a degree! Anyway, enjoy.

Frank Craven

Love your pure reactions. Always a joy. Thank You for the constant smile! Still need a little more reactions to complete your 'drum solo' video. Finally a superb reaction to a classic of a classic! I'd put this against 'The Thing' any day of the week! Great choice.

Frank Craven

One of my favorite rom-coms.
