ALSO this is my first attempt at blurred movie in the corner! Please let me know if you experience any issues with synching, or if it's distracting, etc. It's a downloaded version of the movie (not from the source I watched it on of course because I can't download off of Crave). I know the timecodes were working well too, but just trying this way out! :D

I'm finally watching this reaction and... interesting. This is the first time I've ever seen anybody (reaction or IRL) interpret the traffic cop's actions as creepy or stalker-ish. Did you miss the part of the dialog where she asked him if she was acting like there was something wrong, and he said, "Frankly, yes." She definitely was giving off 'something is wrong' vibes.

2023-07-15 04:26:56 +0000 UTCA few comments about a couple of scenes: - When the conversation between Norman and Marion in the parlour suddenly turns more intense as he leans forward, the strings in the background that start swelling up are so well done. You really get the feeling you've just stepped into another dimension of strangeness compared to the prolonged absence of music prior to that. Even with the great acting it wouldn't nearly have been the same without those strings. Love also how hard you can see Marion struggling to keep her composure with all the disturbing things being said. Hard to argue against this being the best scene in the movie - When Lila runs to the front of the hardware store to greet Sam returning from the motel, she starts out in a lighted area then it gets darker and darker until she gets up to the camera as a faceless outline of a person staring at you from the darkness. I guess it's supposed to keep us in suspense as to whether Sam came back alive, but I like it on it's own out of the context of the story as a really interestingly shot sequence. If they had put that sequence in another movie and held the shot longer, it really would have been unnerving to have someone whose face you can't quite make out staring at you from the darkness for a prolonged period of time.

2023-07-09 04:42:30 +0000 UTCWhat a fantastic reaction Kat Highlights for me: - Your reaction to Norman asking her to join him for supper and you (possibly mischievously?) wanting her to accept - The hilarious looks of concern creeping across your face as our "gentle perv"'s weirdness starts getting revealed bit by bit - The obsession with the window as a source of danger that never comes into play (there should have been a counter for how often it was mentioned) - Your intransigence toward him even for trivial things after he's fully established as a creep ("What are you eating, silly? Little pocket mint? What are you EATING?!") - Your various reactions to the detective ripping his story apart piece by piece ("Ya busted!") - The unexpected, recurring, self-deprecating bit about you never changing your clothes (Loved how you were fighting hard not to crack yourself up setting up the bit) - Finally, the best part: Your bursting with infectious enthusiasm at having predicted it at the end and in the post movie reaction in the Youtube edit Guys we have to find other movies that will pique her interest similarly to this one as it's so much fun watching her getting drawn into a movie like this. I have a long way to go to get through all the full length reactions as I've only just signed up, but this reaction cements in my mind what a good idea it was.

Other suggestions would be Wait Until Dark (CLASSIC, with Audrey Hepburn!), As Above So Below (fantastic and creepy!), The Others (for a more gothic vibe), and the entire Scream series (for HECKIN FUN!)!

Psycho is considered one of the first American movies where the protagonist dies before the end, and you were also right about there being another Hitchcock in this movie, she was the other secretary in the office where Marion worked. I would rate this movie 10 stuffed birds out of 10 Psycho never blinks dead-eyed piercing stares! I'm glad I finally decided to ante up so I could watch the whole movie with you, well worth it. The score is by Bernard Hermann who wrote some wonderful music for Hitchcock's "Vertigo" and Scorsese's "Taxi Driver" amongst others. He convinced Hitchcock that the shower scene needed music - Hitchcock wanted it to be silent originally. This movie is one of THREE classic horror movies to be inspired by Wisconsin killer Ed Gein. The other two are "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" and "The Silence of the Lambs". When you talked about the fact that the blood going down the plughole could be anything, Hitchcock said it was chocolate sauce. He might have been kidding. When a critic complained that his daughter was now too afraid to go in the shower after seeing this movie, Hitchcock suggested that the critic have his daughter dry-cleaned. Hitchcock's original attraction to the story was that audiences would be completely thrown off by what happens to Marian. He would have been very happy with your reaction!

He was trying to lure Anthony Perkins back into the role (which was previously going to be played by Christopher Walken). It worked and Perkins did an INCREDIBLE job in the sequel.

2023-06-21 02:09:56 +0000 UTCI’m so glad you put the blurred video in the corner. The version on Netflix uses the old Universal Studios logo animation, and that’s about twenty seconds shorter than the one on your version. I would have been way off otherwise.

2023-06-20 19:20:42 +0000 UTCAlfred Hitchcock directed a pretty good comedy, believe it or not, called The Farmer's Wife, way back in 1928 during the silent movie era. I believe he directed more movies in the 1920's than the 1960's.
