In their highly sex-segregated society, both men and women learn how to fight with different martial styles. Male Meewfolk are generally trained in mounted combat, spear fighting, and regimented military tactics. Almost all female Meewfolk warriors are temple-trained, where they learn to fight with two swords and their clawed hind feet in an acrobatic style where they are in constant motion, often not even in contact with the ground. To sustain themselves, they consume - and are addicted to - a drug which incites them into a berserk frenzy. Protected by magic and practically impervious to pain, the Ri'auuda'ao ('Crazy Battle Maidens') are some of the fiercest hand-to-hand fighters in Archemi.
This effigy depicts one of the female battle totems.
