I was interested to hear your take on Ed’s new song after he suggested you listen to it… and I knew as soon as I heard the pre release clips and the song itself your critique would say what it said and I completely agree with it. I’m a big Ed fan but so far this album cycle especially compared to any other feels extremely uninspired and not unique. I did see what he said the concept is supposed to be (using sounds from non Western music in a pop context) so I’ll give it a listen to see the execution. But… it’s disappointing so far.
