From the disjointed rollout to the underwhelming commercial performance and shifting critical reception, we unpack how Lover aimed for lightness but landed in something much murkier. Uncensored videos of public episodes may be spotty over the next few weeks as uploading will depend on where/when we have good WiFi on tour. Because the videos were not pre-edited (only pre-recorded) we didn't get the files in time to schedule them with all the audio. Rest assured the YouTube version will be up as soon as possible!

Maybe kind of the inverse of each other because INTHAF is about togetherness and YOYOK is about aloneness. They both have verses that move through time, and as that happens, she gets older and things change.

BUT…. I think they would have eventually separated because she needed to bejeweled. It just really makes you think how her and Matty were always supposed to have their flash in the pan moment so she could learn to protect herself from love bombers and maybe identify her own tendency for limerance.

Like she seemed to think that after the Lover era was over she'd be "dead" as a major popstar, but the pandemic and lock down sorta froze everything, her assumed impending death included. Perhaps the pandemic also shifted her head space away from making pop bangers, because she wouldn't get to perform them. I don't know, but it seems like the pandemic gave her an opportunity to create without expectation. No one would be asking when the next album or tour or whatever was gonna come. There also wasn't really anything to do, so her turning to music makes a lot of sense. After she released folklore without any promo, and it still got a lot of critical acclaim, as well as a great reception from the public, she seems to have realized she could still release music to great success past the age of 30. It just got me thinking, would we have folklore if we the Lover era continued and concluded undisturbed? Would we have evermore, Midnights, or ttpd if we didn't have folklore? And what would her career look like if the pandemic didn't happen? Also the Stella McCartney collab...I feel like it could've been good, or better at the very least. Like it can't be that hard for a designer to make good pieces with the lover colors?? I'm sure they could've made something that even people not interested in Taylor would have liked and wanted, which would've resulted in a much more successful collab that could've made those people more interested in Taylor. And like a $2000 jacket...I have to laugh.

But who could stay?” It taught me so much about Taylor’s life and was a precursor to Anti-Hero. Kacey Musgraves is a secret Tay-hater! I saw her mean mugging at the Grammy’s. My cousin works with her sound engineers. I ran into him at her show in Louisville. I asked him if he was hanging out with Kacey after the show. He said she’s really really weird and even her band doesn’t like to hang out with her. So there’s that. How interesting for young Bieber to condemn taking things online when I’m reading him take down his wife’s Vogue cover in real time. “I changed into goddesses, villains and fools” I think is =1989, rep, and Lover. Which makes me sad if she’s calling herself a fool for making Lover.
