2025-06-23 16:51:04 +0000 UTCMost of the good things I would have to focus on with Addison would be: the telegenic quality you mentioned, being hot af in music videos and the production. But sadly most of that does not really showcase her actual talent or artistry so I think I struggle with that. Also, her vocals start sounding nearly the same in every song (ie- whisper sexy breathy falsetto and/or whisper sexy breathy vocals but make it robot-y/autotuned/chalrli xcx sounding) so unfortunately I think the production is good, but that’s almost a bad thing for her because she gets to hide behind it with these weak vocals that all start to blend together for me. And she’s not redeeming it enough lyrically to make up for anything either- with all the cigarettes/drugs/fashion or name dropping Gaga/madonna/Britney etc is all just feels a bit cheap and empty. There are a few bops and I can still happily bop along to cheap & empty. But did this deserve an 8.0 from Pitchfork?! The fact that they gave TTPD a 6.6 but gave this an 8.0…I can’t

2025-06-23 05:30:03 +0000 UTCi enjoyed this album wayyy more than i expected to!! i liked diet pepsi when it came out but kind of tuned out until the whole album came out, so i was very pleasantly surprised by how it all came together. so fun and fresh, my other highlights are new york and fame is a gun!! new york rly gagged me so i loved watching you react to it, i felt the exact same. im only a casual charli/hyperpop enjoyer, so i didnt think i would love it this much, but i find the direction addison is going in is much more palatable for my personal taste? been seeing a lot of discourse about her being "inauthentic" which i just find very tired. i think people can't tell the difference between being inauthentic and intentional - her entire project seems very intentional, well-studied, inspired etc. and i love what you said about how she intakes her references and actually does something thought provoking with it. i think people also confuse authenticity and oversharing, and they aren't used to not having access to that part of her life to lend a perceived credibility or "realness" to her music. i thought about that when you asked if we know if shes booed up and i realised that i didnt even think of that when i first heard the album LOL i was truly just vibing bc the songs were just Good. i also like that we dont know too much about her personal life! anyway great reaction as always, kudos for getting this up so fast after coming back! congrats on finishing up the tour!!! watched the livestream from aus, hope to see you guys here one day! <3

I was lukewarm on the pre-release singles but the album is really starting to click. I think “Fame is a Gun” is my favorite. Thanks for sharing your reaction Zack!! 🫶

I think it’s quite good and fits exactly where she wanted it to fit, but I don’t feel as if it’s very controversial? Or more so that it shouldn’t be. I’ve seen a lot of terminally online conversation about how performative it is and “the rebrand needs to be studied” comments everywhere. Why do people care so much? What’s evoking this controversy? On the flip side why are people so over the top enchanted by her? Would love to hear your thoughts.

I’ve listened twice front to back but it didn’t stick with me 💁🏼♀️ It’s especially upsetting because hot 100 is full of Morgan Wallen, Alex Warren, Teddy Swims and Benson Boone 😵💫 And interludes were truly unnecessary

I've been alternating both albums in the car, at the gym, while cleaning my house... because they just feel like cohesive projects that I can turn on and let em play. Addison also has a very strong summer vibe ☀️
