Everything is SO BAD now, I totally agree with your theory that she’s been replaced.

But I have to admit, ever since Marina dropped "and the Diamonds" from her stage name her music has taken a nosedive. I thought Marina couldn't do worse than Love + Fear but this new album Princess of Power takes the cake. At least Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land had some good songs like the title track, Venus Fly Trap, Highly Emotional People & I Love You But I Love Me More. This new album has no redeeming qualities. After revisiting The Family Jewels and Electra Heart I realize that those albums aren't as good as I remember them, but at least they had interesting perspectives and some standout singles. After this new album I've given up hope that Marina will ever make something as compelling as Froot

I was cool with that vocal effect she uses in the chorus even if many thought it was strange, but those LYRICS man are unforgivable. I remember before bootyfly was released and we knew nothing about the sound of M6 one of the very few snippets she released was that hello kitty line... Cricket. Me and my diamond friends were so annoyed, and then butterfly released and we got another punch to the face. Luckily, apart from a couple outliers, I think pop is alright, no ways particularly good but I really like a few songs like pop title track, Cupid's girl, Cuntissimo, I <3 you and adult girl, but it was certainly a disappointment, it being her first independent release too made it even more disappointing. I wouldn't label it as her worst album, I would still give that title to love + fear, but honestly know I'm thinking about it it deffo might be in contention. Thank you for reacting xxxxxx

Even if you try to pick out any meaning from the album, overall it’s retreading ground she’s already covered in Electra heart I.e. she’s mentioning similar themes about power and control and emotionally unavailable men. It’s like she’s literally stuck in the same patterns as she was 10 years ago and the writing is worse. I’m wondering how she even created the first two albums now. Idk about the family jewels but I know on elektra heart she had so many co-writers and has said she didn’t enjoy that process but I wish she would do it again for our sake 💀
