If you decide to respond to the criticism about the Zara album I would focus mainly on the “swedish culture” aspect of the discourse. This is what people are really using as the straw man, any critics are “just ignorant of swedish culture”. But like, this whole album is so heavily influenced by black culture, the only “Sweden” I detect is the song titles. The songs are mainly trap songs. Then there’s plenty of disco, rnb, breakbeat, NY style drill, jersey beat, and even tropical (caribbean) influences. She’s singing with a blaccent. Girls girl is literally a sample of Show Me Love by Robin S and gives no credit to the songwriters.

I agreed with your review although I personally love the songs midnight sun and hot & sexy. The rest of the album is so MID!! Songs like girls girl and puss puss are just bad and I thought people would just agree or not pay it any attention cause it’s literally Zara Larson, but they are going to extremes & I’m really sorry swiftologist I have so much respect for you because I genuinely couldn’t handle that, TikTok is just as toxic as twitter and people take things so far and make something so small seem so big, you’re such a great creator. You’ve made me think smarter about the way I engage with music and honestly how I respond to different opinions, I’m starting a creative writing course next year and hopefully getting into uni for journalism after that, because of you. I respect the work you do and the time it takes, PLLSSS ignore these crazy people…. They will fight and argue over who gets the last jelly bean at this point. PMO
