2025-10-11 17:21:57 +0000 UTCi wonder if taylor tried to target a new audience with this album, the whole podcast thing already gave me that impression. but now also knowing the sound - it has a lot of influences of some fleetwood mac soft rock, bit from earlier decades. its probably what older people would expect from a pop banger, but it doesn’t seem very new. the songs aren’t very lore heavy or if they are that was explained in the podcast. i think it’s an easy entry for first time listeners. and maybe that’s why it feels so off. i‘m also wondering if it’s more of a pallet cleanser album but then the extensive marketing doesn’t really fit.

So if Matty retaliates which I actually don't think he will, but if he does...it might just spark something in Taylor. Don't get me wrong I'm glad she's happy God she deserves it after all these years of trauma, but the Matty songs had been happening since Rep without our knowledge and Folklore and Evermore has Matty all over. Taylor often takes on the personality of her purses and a complex wordsmith troubled genius is a stimulating muse. Travis is just happy go lucky and finally treats her well, but she needs her art people around her like you mentioned.

Its a fun album, but it's what people were predicting for the I love Travis album, it's not the Showgirl as promised. Had she taken the song Showgirl and then conceptualized around that it would have been a different kettle of fish. Ruin the Friendship shows she still has Speak Now Taylor in her and feels so comforting, so bring her back, also Father Figure hits different because she has her masters its a victorious song without the hurt, which I love for her. Then we have Eldest Daughter, beautiful melody and bridge, but edit the writing, we know you can.

The album seems to be directly from the voice of the Taylor from the anti-hero music video who takes shots and has a blast. Also actually romantic feels like it’s from the pov of Renee Rapps’ Regina George. Listen to the mean girls a musical album and you’ll understand. Particularly the song “meet the plastics” I think Mean Girls has a lot more to do with this than people think

In my opinion, for this year - Mayhem should be album of the year. The Mayhem Ball was the most incredible arena concert experience I've ever attended. (I know the recent Kelce mentions have been more of a Kiki, offering this with a long term view.) I totally understand the prior approach of not putting too much thought into the purse because you’re here for the diva, but now that Taylor is merging her brand with Travis’s brand so publicly, not saying you need to become Kelceologist but I think it’s important to be able to at least superficially understand and accurately describe Travis and his family and their brand. I don’t think “Kardashians for rednecks” is an accurate way to describe them. For one, they’re very clearly positioned left of center on the political spectrum and rednecks actually really hate them. They do have a bit of an influencer quality to them, but the difference is that their entire platform is built on the back of Travis and Jason being two of the greatest football players of all time, not just colorful personalities who happen to be popular. In particular, core to their reputation as football players is not just that they’re naturally talented but that they’re so mentally tough that they play through excruciating injury all the time to miss as few games as possible. That’s really not the standard in the NFL. As for how they’re positioning themselves post football, beyond the podcast, Jason seems to be going to the football commentating route, while Travis seems more interested in acting in action and comedy films (he’s used The Rock as an example of the trajectory he wants - which isn’t super substantive or prestigious but to me is very different from the Kardashians who are just famous for nothing and for manufactured drama). Another important contrast is that their core brand, similar to Taylor’s, is very much built on authenticity and saying how you really feel even if it’s cringe or controversial. If you decide you want a crash course on the Kelce brand and how they curate their public persona, the “Kelce” documentary on Amazon prime is a good watch. It’s more centered on Jason but has plenty of Travis and their close knit family dynamic.

It’s why there’s that element of resentment toward an unseen force (she’s still getting over the rat betrayal). This part of her life on the second leg of the Eras tour was “Wait, is this finally happening? Can I really have it all?” It may ring shallow compared to the early-days-Joe love songs on Rep, but that’s because there was inherent conflict in that relationship — not just in the circumstances around it

And in this story what happend behind the scenes is that she met "the love of her life". I can see that, but i understand the constructive criticism of the situation. Especially when it comes to the visuals, either you are "selling" showgirl or not, but i also see what she was trying to do. I think it’s part of her mindset when it comes to love, but what’s curious to me is that even in this happy, happy time of her life, she’s still in that mindset and in this album it seems to be redirected toward some women

I was DEVASTATED when Taylor Swift showed up the night I was going to book. To cope I kept thinking she might show up at the Manchester event. When it came to my night Charli XCX was the special guest. This was pre-brat (I LOVE brat) but I wasn’t familiar with her previous album. I can’t even describe the upset and disappointment that was on my face when I seen Charlie running around to Vroom Vroom Looking back I can’t help but feel that when Charli looked at my face - all she would be thinking is Sympathy is a knife So I feel I contributed to this beef. I know this is crazy and everything isn’t about me….but what if it is?

Like a substantial one (NOT a retirement before anyone comes for me!) Like she’s been touring nonstop for 2 years, has gone through several massive shifts in her personal life, and has put out multiple projects over that time. I can’t imagine she’s had a lot of time to sit and just be, let alone process or “cook” so to speak on any of this. This album genuinely convinced me she needs 2-3 years of just existing as a person and not working on anything.

Interesting thoughts around the pivoted voice towards women I wonder if because she's had so many men do her wrong in life and in relationships she has always roasted them in lyrics while putting other women on a pedestal... Now that she's got a great guy in her life she has given a more generalized pass to men so she must need to vilify women in the songs to have a literary foe. But that's also pretty showgirl of her - they play up the sexiness & charm to the menfolk and are cut throat with the female competition around you. ♥️

As for the remark on what’s the difference between cgi and ai, ai is theft plain and simple. It’s trained entirely on people’s work and will only ever spit out a facsimile of what it intook, whereas CGI is an art form of it’s own that requires actual knowledge of art and composition and technology. I’m sorry for the long comment but the comments from Zach on AI have been so dismissive and hurtful to people that actually have had their work ripped or are already seeing the environmental effects.

Currently involved in trying to block my work that was stolen from continuing to be fed into these theft machines that spit back some soulless disgusting caricature of my own work and people that say they like me doing it themselves and showing it to me as if that’s ever something i’d enjoy - it’s more than just accept it and move on because that’s how the world works, there’s a reason actual artists in cinema in music in art are protesting this. It’s more than oh it’s already happening so deal with it, and the fact is, no you don’t have to deal with it things like sora ai and whatever shit they’re releasing now are being slammed by copyright for a reason, and that’s that artists don’t want their shit stolen from them, and it’s hypocritical of taylor to ever align her brand with theft of others art. I was really disappointed by Zach’s take on this, it felt so business minded and cold
