HOUSE DOMME VS INDEPENDENT DOMME

As you walk along your journey as a Pro Dominatrix, you'll probably ask yourself if you want to work independently or under another dungeon, or "House".

House Dungeons are locations where Pro Dommes interact with clients that are found by the owners of the House. It's like showing up for a job: you clock in, get assigned tasks for the day, and clock out. House Dungeons operate on schedules. House Dungeons also keep a percentage of your earnings. Most beginner Pro Dommes start with House dungeons to get their feet wet, but please note that not every state will have a House Dungeon. There is a small percentage of House Dungeons that exist. Make sure you ask up front what your cut will be.

Working independently, however, is the opposite. You set your own schedule, vet your own clients, and rent out spaces to have sessions. You get to keep all of your earnings, but you have to work harder to build up your clientele list.

MY PERSONAL STORY WITH WORKING WITH A HOUSE DUNGEON:

When I first started in this industry 6 years ago, I decided to work with a House Dungeon in NYC. This dungeon was very popular, so I decided that it would be best to get my footing there. I submitted an application online and was called in for an interview. The interview was very simple (and they also didn't ask much about my experience or the kinks and fetishes I was into, which was odd to me). I was hired the same day and given my schedule for the week.

Let's just say I quit after my first day of work.

On my first day, I went in and was told I had to sit in a waiting room for my entire shift until I was called for a client. Mind you, my shift was 8 hours long. There was nothing else to do but sit around and if I wanted to shadow another Domme on a session for education, it had to be up to them. This did not happen. The environment and other Dommes that worked there were unwelcoming and the energy was malicious. It was not a comfortable environment and felt inauthentic to me personally. When asked if I could step out to get lunch, I was told that "no one leaves until their shift is over, you should have brought your lunch." Management was super rude and I decided then and there that this was NOT how I wanted my experience to be.

I quit that day, went independent, and went on to be the most successful person in the field.

I say that to say, it is completely up to you on deciding how you want to start your journey. All House Dungeons won't be like the experience I had, but it's best to do your research before jumping straight in.
