Haha good point. Never heard of SID but I'll need to check that out. There's another method you could try, if you haven't heard of it. Can see the steps here https://devtalk.blender.org/t/taking-a-look-at-optix-7-3-temporal-denoising-for-cycles/18656/103 . Doesn't work in 3.0, so would need to use 3.1 or later. I thought it gave good results in 2.93, but I upgraded to 3.0 in the middle of a project and screwed myself out of using it. Oh and you could always make use of render layers to try and target specific noisy parts. i.e. render main stuff at regular sample, then use a second layer for just the noisy areas to use more samples, and composite them together 👍 btw I realized I'm just a big noob and never learned proper lighting so I never had real noise in the background of my stuff... will keep my mouth shut from now on 😅

This one was rendered at 400 samples @4K, if I would have gone with 1024 it would have probably finished rendering in a couple of months if not half year. I use OpenImageDenoiser, but i should use SID (SuperImageDenoiser), Optix ain't good at all for animations, cus the noise patter differs too much from every frame. Maybe in the 3.0 version is more stable i don't know.

The Fatsest GMan

Makes sense. Though I assumed your renders were too high quality for it to be that, how many samples are you using typically? I like to do 1024 😅 Hm are you using Optix or OpenImageDenoise? I remember reading about the Optix denoiser not being temporally stable, but that was back in 2.93 and not sure if it's any better in blender 3 since I use OID now. Sorry for all the questions, and don't mean any disrespect.

Hi! I'm glad you appriciated the animation! I didn't played around with light clamping, I should learn about it. The thing going on with the curtains is just that there was a lot of noise and the denoiser went nuts there 😅

The Fatsest GMan

Been away for a while, but wow this looks amazing, really impressive and inspiring stuff. Love D.Va's look in this one as always, the lighting, hair, and cloth simulations look great too. Can't get over how good the lighting looks on the hair. Only real critique is the light-speckles on the hair. I've only ever seen them be purely white in my renders (fireflies?), but have you tried playing around with the clamping value to see if it helps with those? Also out of curiosity, what's up with that heatwave looking effect on the curtains, is that something to do with volumes?

There’s audio in this 1. Idk y urs isn’t working

Papa_Dragon

Did you tried on other devices?

The Fatsest GMan
