NEW EPISODE: I Captained a £4,000,000 Starship Filled with Actors

Continuing a trend of Quinns and myself being sent to explore lavishly-designed roleplaying experiences together, we this time ventured into the world of Bridge Command, a "highly interactive theatre experience" set aboard a starship in London (and also in space).

Along with a couple of our friends, we were able to bring a small camera crew with us to capture the whole thing and show off what we think is some truly pioneering game design at work. Also, it's very fun. This is one of our fun videos, for sure.

I don't know what else to tell you that the video title hasn't already managed. This is about as over-the-top and ridiculous as it sounds.

PATREON EXCLUSIVE

And once you've watched the playthrough itself, we've got another little bonus something just for you!

Join Quinns as he goes behind-the-scenes with the Bridge Command team and takes a look at how this expensive, sci-fi sausage actually gets made.

This was brilliant, please tell Quinns I particularly enjoyed his scrolling through the inspirational speeches he’d saved on his phone! :D - Laura M.

No lie, I would totally watch a full tv season of y’all crewing a starship. Absolutely brilliant. 😄

So cool to see Bridge Command featured! This is a bucket-list experience for me, and it sounds like I should hurry up with that bucket. The set design and the actors in particular make this look like such a uniquely fantastic show. Shoutout to the fantastic folks who work on the EmptyEpsilon (EE) software used on the control screens and by the GM, which is fully open-source and freely modified (and also prebuilt and free on Steam). EE is worth a pickup if you want a tiny bit of the Bridge Command experience as a "home version" (or just want to play an Artemis bridge sim-a-like with a game master's mode). The behind-the-scenes video mentions that EmptyEpsilon was also used in Odysseus LARP, which is a multi-day Nordic sci-fi LARP that takes over an entire school building as the ship. It similarly used physical props for ship functions and repairs, and ran in 2019 and again in 2024: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6xNUyijCis Much longer presentations on how they built and ran Odysseus at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76IsgkI3oDU and on more technical details at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IE7j1SgUpKs — since it sounds like Bridge Command used Odysseus' fork, some of these details might be similar.

Holy shit, this is so much more elaborate and better built than Disney's frigging Galactic Star Cruiser. That of course also went out of business, but it's not fair that this one is also currently not bringing in enough...
