It actually doesn’t take them long, since it's a competition, you have to think of it like those K-pop shows when it come timing, not concept. They have a short time to write and memorize, and sometimes some of them do forget their lyrics on stage. It can be embarrassing, and you can even get eliminated by the judges or the audience for things like forgetting lyrics, etc.
