The king went crazy when he belatedly found out that his mother, Lady Yun, had been stripped of her position as queen, driven out, and murdered. Yeonsangun was the greatest tyrant in Korean history. He was cruel, indulged in alcohol and pleasures, did not care for his country, and killed everyone who helped him kill his mother. According to history, Yeonsangun's mother was accused of trying to poison the king and his concubines, and was kicked out of the palace after being falsely accused by many of his subjects and eventually murdered. It is unclear whether his mother, Lady Yun, really tried to poison the king and his concubines, so she was not kicked out right away, but after her status was lowered, many people who disliked her framed her for death.
