I enjoyed all of GOT, but I generally watch a show with an understanding that something has been created for me to watch, but my likes and opinions are not a part of that equation. That is not to say feedback isn't warranted. If I'm being critical of the final season, it does feel a bit dis-jointed from the rest, but honestly I felt a dis-joint when the novels ended and the creators of the show had to kind of go off on their own. That's two, different voices contributing to this saga (well, technically MORE than two at that point), but it could have gone in many, many directions and the creators of the show chose this one direction. It's a good enough series that I've watched it three times and watching with you both is now my 4th time of watching it from start to finish. It's still a well-done, well-casted series, imo.

I always felt soooo sorry for Tommen because he's just a naive kid who did what he thought he was supposed to. His grandfather and mother raised him to actually listen to the counseling of his elders who knew better than him about ruling (unlike Joffrey), so he was always so easy to manipulate by everyone around him. He was too pure for the world he lived in, so it might be better that he died instantly by his own hand, tbh. 😭 side note: the music and atmosphere before the explosion is 10/10 some of the most memorable in the entire show! they were COOKING when they made this season! no pun intended, lol!

How better to protect your nephew and honor your sisters dying wish than to pretend the child is yours? Telling no one the truth. Not even your wife. Ned Stark was a real one

fun fact for the amazing Battle of The Bastards episode, most 1 hour tv shows take 8-12 days to shoot, the battle alone took 25 days to shoot with a military team to coordinate the fighting scenes. The battle of the bastards is one of the best episodes of the entire show, phenomenal.

I'm that person who much prefers the Meereen part of BoB. As a VFX artist I can appreciate how impressive the long shot of Jon in battle is but- DRAGONS DID YOU SEE THE FREAKING DRAGON!! The Dragonback shots look soooooooo much better than season 5 its crazy! Also Emilia is just wonderful

I spent $5 to binge you watching the shore on a long rainy weekend. I cannot wait for season 7, no way it can be expedited? As a fellow LGBTQ+ member, "she did it for day rights" cracked be up which also being like "yall are so wrong." Could never be a Cercei Stan. Long live Margery... she isn't a flop to me. She played the Game and unfortunately our queen lost. Tommen was way better than Joffrey though and way younger; I think Tommen was 14 and Joffrey 18 or 16 possibly but they essentially didn't prepare young kid Tommen to become king, I cannot fault him for anything. In the whole show reaction, those are my only opposing thoughts. Cant wait for more reactions and personally looooveee seasons 7 and 8.

The battle is super impressive. They did a lot of behind the scenes and talked a lot about the filming. Also the budget change from S1 to now is INSANE. Like, they blew up the sept of Baelor and we saw it in all its glory...the Sept is where Ned got beheaded and they didn't have the budget to show it in S1 🤣 Also one of my fave little details is the shield Jon holds up when Ramsey is shooting at him in the courtyard...thats a Mormont shield. Out of 62 at least one of her guys made it all the way to the end. Lady Lyanna said her fighters were worth 10! Lol

The things Tommen did were guided by Marjorie and the Old Sparrow. Marjorie was just playing the part with the Sparrow (and Tommen) like she was good at doing, she just underestimated Cersei. She switched up after she saw Loras. He told her he couldn't do it anymore and to make it stop so she started playing the part to get him free.

Agreed.. Margery was playing the game to keep her family alive and it backfired, literally. This is what I think the rose drawing she gave her grandmother meant.. it was a symbol of their family and she was telling her that everything she was doing was for the family. I still very much enjoyed season 7, a lot happens that is exciting in my opinion, and even season 8, but I just wasn't thrilled with the ending, that my personal opinion. Also, Margery was still the same Margery we have come to love over past seasons, she was just playing a part, faking it if you will lol she was doing it because she thought it was the only way her and Loras could make it out alive. So I don't think they deserved to die. I was actually very upset by their death the first time I saw it

Even tho the last 3 seasons were bad, what made them fun to watch when airing was all the fan theories before each episode bc George truly made a vast universe with so many possibilities. The fan fiction, plot holes, and plot armor start now! Just have fun and know none of this is really canon if your favs switch up. George (the author of the books) hasnt truly confirmed anything being real except hodors end. The rest is speculation and we wont know until he drops the last books (i lost hope) 😭 Also, Jon is very much still dead in the book! Jons parentage is purely made up for the show and is a huge plot hole if you read the books. I do recommend yall should read the books to show how much they’ve changed and how much they’ve taken straight from the pages!

Oh and one other very sad thing: you were 100% right in saying 6-10 is the last great GoT episode there is 😭😭😭 Sure, s7 has some decent moments. But good gods, does it have some ridiculously bad ones too! In fact, there’s a HUGE part that I would call one of the dumbest of the entire show (don’t worry, I’ll wait to go off in detail until afterwards 😂). And s8? lol welp. That’s all I got to say. Another thing that didn’t really fully sink in for me until I rewatched was what Margaery had been up to the whole time. I wasn’t really feeling like y’all were, because I didn’t really think of her as a “flop” or that she’d dropped as a favorite character. I knew she didn’t truly believe in that religious quackery. But I was unsure what was going on with her exactly. At worst, I thought maybe the ptsd of it all had brainwashed her some, kind of ala Theon’s time as Reek. But no, take another look as you edit for YT: Margaery is clearly in control of herself, and she has a plan like she always does. Remember, this girl was a master of manipulation. She was always trying to play the best angle in every situation, and she excelled at telling people what they needed or wanted to hear that would benefit her objectives the most. She realized that the only way to get her and Loras out of that entire situation was to PHYSICALLY get them out of there first. The Faith Militant lived up to their awful name. They were brutal, violent, and quick to use force. Any resistance was always met with that force. And that would’ve included an attack on the Sept. If Jaime and the Tyrell army had actually gone thru with their attack, the FM would have likely just killed both Margaery and Loras - or perhaps killed one and held the other hostage. And Margaery totally understood how dangerous these fanatics were. That’s why she was so insistent that her grandmother go back to High Garden. No, Margaery’s plan was to get all of her family out of Kings Landing by any means necessary, including pretending and lying, which is what her and Loras were doing. It was the only weapon she had to use. THEN the Tyrell army would’ve laid waste to the lot of them! Unfortunately, they didn’t get that chance 😔 (but also oh well because that Wildfire solution is still too satisfying lol!)

That’s a lot of dead people 😬” But I just haaaaated that self righteous High Sparrow and his stupid cult so much that it was just too glorious to see that first time. And ngl, my sympathy for Cersei was pretty high after her walk of shame too. Plus the film making and music score in this episode are just SO masterful. I actually think that the BotB is a perfect encapsulation of the decline of the show. Ive been a fan of asoiaf for 20 years, long before the show. I didnt even watch for the first 3 seasons because of major changes i heard about in season 2 that they made. But once I started, I loved it. When I watched it, I did think season 6 was weak, but it has big payoffs that make people love it. Season 7, I rode that hype train so fucking hard, and still consider it to have really great moments. Season 8? Nah, a fucking mess. BotB is a strategic mess. It is out of character for Jon, who is a seasoned commander and warrior at this point, to lose his cool and run head first into a charge. Sansa not telling anyone about the vale coming cost hundreds of lives, and there was zero repercussions for it. That's why we all loved the show to begin with, right? Actions have consequences.... except these last few season. I think its cinematic and fun to watch. The visual are immaculate, the acting is peak, the highs are so high and the lows are low. But all of those things are just a feeble shell that tricks people into thinking its a cohesive, realistic, and good battle. That's what I think about season 6 as a whole, and season 7. Like I said, I love season 7 still (though I literally have not watched this show since the series finale aired). But its so hollow compared to what we had when George was involved. I encourage anyone and everyone to read the books. They're so incredible, and the characters are so great. I hate what they did to my Sansa in the past few seasons and from here on out. Book Sansa is one of my favorites. And, of course, Daenerys is my favorite fictional character of all time. I think anyone who even slightly enjoyed the show would find great value in the books. Don't go in with show bias, read them as they are with the understanding that there are a lot of different things and character choices/personalities. You won't be disappointed.

Season 7 is still good it’s just not great, considering season 8 hahaha. Like I think the shadow of season 8 dampens how good season 7 is. And season 8 ultimately has one of the best episodes ever as well, it just after that hahaha I’m so excited for yall to finish this. I need like season 7 at the beginning of July and season 8 at the end because you really need minimal gap to get the full effect. So many of us binged season 7 right before 8 happened for that reason.

NO SPOILERS I PROMISE. I will say as far as seasons 7 and 8 go, a lot of the negativity stems from knowing the showrunners were trying to hurry up and finish the series to move on to other projects. the author of the books pretty much gave them a run down of key points of his plans for the rest of the story. in my opinion, i was less upset about what happened and more that they rushed to a conclusion that didn't feel earned. however, there are some trash story decisions that were made LMAO BUT!!! i'm excited to see how you feel about the last two seasons and i'll be here to watch your crashout into disappointment if that is the way things go 😂
