JAWS 2 (1978) *REACTION* FIRST TIME WATCHING!

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water (we never did), JAWS 2 proves that Amity Island isn’t done traumatizing vacationers—or us! The water may be murky but Chief Brody’s short shorts keep us at attention as the teens come to play and the shark comes to slay! 🦈🩸🪝

Just wait until number 3😂

I'm always on Jaws' side in every movie. Team Jaws.

I like to think that this shark was Bruce' mother and she came for vengeance. She didn't deserve to be electrocuted. She was just doing what any mother would do. I wish the screaming girl and the Mayor were her final meals.

Whitney Miller

Yesss part 3 is way more fun because it’s just so ridiculous, but still somehow good?

Christina Z (StevieWayne16)

The guy who played the mayor had to wrap shooting early, because his wife got cancer. There was a deleted scene where he voted not to fire Brody. The guy who played Len (Ellen’s boss) was Stefano DiMera from Days of Our Lives. Fitting.

'Too many survivors' I feel like that about most movies, like I should be happy the annoying people are still around? Poor shark was just living its best life snacking on some visitors to its ocean, it did nothing wrong.

My favorite John Williams soundtrack is Jurassic Park. Roy Scheider as Brody might be the hero we need in the patch.

Bruce the shark is definitely a petty pumpkin!

Yeah I agree definitely wanted more carnage but I still had fun watching 😄

Mikeyy

Please watch Dangerous Animals! It just came out!

Favorite John Williams score: The Empire Strikes Back. I have never noticed it before but "Lake Placid" must have taken inspiration from this movie. Two of the kills are identical.

Also- when I was looking up the ratings for the remaining movies in the franchise, I noticed that there is a new documentary about the making of the original Jaws that is available on Hulu/Disney+. Maybe everyone already knows about it, but I didn't. Looks interesting, and even has interviews with people who originally worked on the film including Steven Spielberg. I'm definitely going to watch it.

Well..... like I said in the first Jaws reaction, this is a series I had never watched before and I was actually blown away by how good the first one was. This one... not so much. 😬 I really didn't care about any of the characters, and I agree that more should have died. On my own, I would probably end my Jaws journey here, but if you guys do the other ones I will probably watch with you- even though they are crazy low on Rotten Tomatoes (which isn't always a solid source obviously), but Jaws 3 has a rating of 10% and Jaws 4 has a truly incredible 2%. 😆 That's pretty telling, to be fair.

You guys need to remember that all the Jaws movies are PG rated, not R. So gore and deaths are going to be limited. Gore in horror movies didn't really take off until the 80's, outside of zombie movies. Originally, Spielberg wanted to do a prequel telling Quint's story about his ship sinking from Jaws in WW2. However the studio thought it would be too expensive to film. Yes, the over the top screaming from Mike's date, was annoying as hell. The actor who played the mayor's son was not in Prom Night. The guy who was pumping up his boat was in Christine. The shark's death in this is my favorite in the series.

Steven Jump

A bit underwhelming I must say. I agree, the mayor should have been shark bait. I still enjoyed watching this with y'all.

OMG Wes you are so perceptive! This basically IS like a slasher movie with a shark instead of Jason...apparently built off of teenage car culture. And Chey calling a little girl a "bitch" absolutely SENT ME! I mean, if Dracula can do it (in the Monster Squad), Chey can! BTW PLEASE tell me you've seen The Monster Squad...

ScientificallyStupidJess

🦈Oh this was fun. I've never seen it and HOW i jumped at the first jumpscare...was truly hilarious. I literally shook, lol.

Richard LaMance

Favorite themes from John Williams: Imperial March (Star Wars), Jurassic Park and Indiana Jones.

Tara M. Wilcoxon

Love watching all of your reactions especially first time reactions. Sending love from Austin. 🙂

Kay Rose

Gonna watch this tomorrow. You guys gotta watch Jaws 3 too, it's terrible and amazing. Also there's a shark movie with lesbians Something in the Water (2024) that not many people have seen that you should also watch sometime.
