Watching Miss Shaw doing those leaps and bounds with her stapled stomach had me all kinds of twisted up 😭 I also recommend Alien: Covenant cause it goes further into the lore and explains what’s going on plus some DOPE horror scenes omg - they stick with you, I’ll tell you that lol.

Granted, a LOT was cut out of the finished film that went a long way to explaining the story and developing the characters and their motivations. The film is a perfectly fine prequel, but the audience wanted Xenomorphs and action galore. Michael Fassbender is outstanding as David, a synthetic with a god complex. If anyone needed an excuse to watch Prometheus, I would cite Fassbender’s performance alone. Regarding the snakelike creatures in the black goo: they were created when worms (tiny ones briefly seen emerging from the soil) indigenous to the planet were exposed to the black liquid in the urns the Prometheus crew disturbed during their exploration. The Engineers seeded habitable planets with their own DNA. They created humanity, saw them as a failure, and planned to wipe them out with bioweapons (the black goo). The “flashback” sequences of the Engineers are indeed holograms. Those holograms seen running from an unknown threat isn’t expanded upon, but the cause was most likely an outbreak of the black goo. Useless geek knowledge: Dr. Elizabeth Shaw was the name of the Third Doctor’s companion in season seven of Classic Doctor Who.
