I hope you both have found your way to the "extras" section about GOT on HBOMAX. They provided some background. I believe there is an entire episode special about the finale. They do the table reading in that one of the last show and you see how the cast learned the fate of Dani and Jon. It was amazing. And if I remember correctly, at the very end of each episode, after the credits, wasn't there an "inside the episode" type of thing? I seem to remember that. I know they talk about the set designs and the different filming locations, etc. Again, all amazing, extra content I believe you both might enjoy.

The Dani we fell in love with was quiet, unsure, lacked resources, lacked a voice. She was something to someone else. Her identity was tied (usually) to a man. We watched her gain confidence, strength, a sense of herself. She was triumphant and freed the shackled in the process. Plus, she had three dragons. But imo (I totally see the case against Dani's ending.), you can slowly watch her lose that sense of her righteous and just self in moments of power. She sometimes ignores the guidance of her counsel and in the beginning, we loved she was head-strong. Defiant. Mother of Dragons, indeed. All the while, we hear stories of other people who rise to powerful positions and lose a sense of themselves. Not many people there to tell you "no" when you're no longer obliged to obey. Even more of a change when they, though, must obey you. And we keep hearing during the entire show how Targaryans can be quite mad and insane and cruel and mean. We saw it in Dani's own brother. The Lannisters were in positions of power and they were quite ruthless to kill anyone or do anything to keep that position. It's almost as if you sit on that Iron Throne and you run the risk of madness. Thus, fitting when Drogon melted it to the floor at the end! Dani lost her first dragon and we saw a change (rightfully) after that. She lost another dragon. She found out Jon Snow is the rightful heir to the throne. She heard the people of the North go on and on about Jon being a fierce warrior and riding a dragon in battle. Not her. She then saw her two closest and longest companions fall. One in battle, one beheaded. I could see on that final push against Cersi and the city, Dani just snapped. Plus, if she was still that righteous, just Dani we fell in love with, she would have yielded the claim of the throne to Jon (unless I am mistaken and Dani was actually the rightful heir to that claim. I have not traced with family tree/wreath.). Bitter-sweet, yes, but when she had such a struggle with the news and didn't appear to ever change course from sitting on that Iron Throne, it was clear Dani's pendulum went too far over in the other direction. Simply my thoughts and like I said, I can absolutely see why people were upset about her story arc. I validate that.

I actually don't hate the way the show ended for the remaining Starks. Like, I hate how Dany's character ended up in these last few episodes, but other than that the ending was okay. I especially like that Jon went back north with Ghost and Tormund and the wildings, it just seemed somehow fitting. And ofc adventurer sea captain Arya and Queen Sansa!

What's crazy is from what my boyfriend told me in the book lady Catlin actually comes back and takes revenge on the people that killed her and her son... Like zombie style I have to read the book to find out for sure but it's definitely worth checking into

here is why o was upset with the ending. all this build up for someone to kill cersei and the castle just crumbles on her... no justice for anyone she harmed..second how can bran be king when he LITERALLY stated "i cant be lord of anything." then suddenly accepts hes THE king of the country. it just doesnt make any sense.
