✨📞 We’re answering The Black Phone again for our first rewatch since theaters, before its chilling sequel dials in. On this bone-tingling rewatch the shadows are cast darker, the calls ring louder and with a sequel looming, the line is far from dead! 🫳🏻😱🖤
it's always Halloween!!!

Have you ever seen daybreakers with Ethan hawk? I actually just had a son and named him Ethan... I think subconsciously because I grew up watching his movies and I've always adored him... So this movie was crazy for me to watch happy to watch it with you, and see how you react to it

The movie they’re watching is The Tingler (1959)
Fun fact- Theaters rigged some theatre seats with buzzers during its release so that audiences would feel the tingler during the scares

Explorers for an Ethan Hawke movie. I loved this watch along. I was a young kid in the 70’s/early 80’s. Things were just rougher then, especially in a rougher side of town. Adults didn’t get involved in bullying and kids weren’t as aware of serial killer habits.

Understandable, but that made it feel more real to me. We don’t often get a lot of this information and when we do it’s limited to what they want to give.

I really wanted to like this movie, because I love the idea. I feel like the grabber was so shallow as a character and we don't get any information about his motivations

Two of my all time favorite Ethan Hawke films are Training Day and Daybreakers, if you haven't seen those you guy's need to.

I didn't like this film, also I don't like watching movies with y'all that you've already seen it's just not the same as watching a movie none of us have seen. I wasn't a fan of the kid actor, aside from the crying scene I just didn't really see any emotion I didn't think he's a good actor. It was difficult to see Gwen get beat by the father that was really tough plus im very protective of anything that has to do with kids so yeah I was not a fan of this movie at all.

Such a good movie, but it definitely sits heavy on you 🥺😩 So glad it ended the way it did also. Loved watching with you both. You asked for other Ethan Hawke movies that showed him in a better light… some of my all time fav romance movies is the Before Sunrise Trilogy with him and Julie Delpy. Such a beautiful story if you ever have time to watch! ☀️
Oh!- also, the POS dad in this one is also in another iconic series- LOST! 🏝️

Did you notice that the actor- Jeremy Davies- that played the POS dad in this also appeared in Hannibal? He played Peter; of the infamous line "Is your social worker in that horse?" 😂 Totally different characters, really talented actor.

Thank you for reacting to this, it's a personal favourite. I'll be adding it to my petty pumpkin playlist on YouTube. I'm kind of concerned that part 2 will lose what makes this movie so special but it's not going to stop me buying it and then racing back over here for your reaction.

I saw too much too, it's good to show that kids in the 70s and 80s were just not safe at home, at school and generally anywhere else. We all worked hard to protect our children and we were called helicopter parents for it.

I’m looking forward to the sequel! Jeremy Davies, the actor who played the dad, has been in a lot of things. I loved him in “It’s Kind of a Funny Story”. He played a much better person in that movie.

These children are absolutely amazing!! What a great movie! I wanted to kick the shit out of the dad!! Sadly enough I grew up in the days where beating your children was accepted as punishment! I never even thought of spanking my children because of that!!

I don’t find it scary but I find it unnerving. He takes children, the atmospheric feel, the darkness of it. It’s unsettling.

The girl who plays his sister, is fantastic. The way that every kid before helped him with what they started to help him escape, great, great plot. Love this movie

We enjoyed it in theaters so much! But then we felt guilty like we should have reacted to it for our pumpkins, so we told ourselves if they ever made another one we'd react, so we'll be reacting to The Black Phone 2! So exciting you'll get to experience it at the theater and then again with us!! 📞 😱🖤

I'm glad this popped up because I need to watch this again. Because the one time I watched it, I wasn't scared, like, AT ALL! But it's SO POPULAR, maybe I missed something or just didn't connect with it.
