🎞️ SINISTER had us spiraling between nervous laughter, genuine terror, and the deep, existential regret of ever moving into a murder house. Because if horror movies have taught us anything… curiosity really does kill the pumpkin! 🎃🪓

I've been obsessed with editing techniques and good/bad editing since I was a kid- one of those AuDHD hyperfixations (I read a book about the making of Jaws when I was about 10 and couldn't believe what a shitshow it was. As far as I'm concerned, Verna Fields, the editor, saved the movie, and I'll die on that hill. Imagine her sitting in her little sunroom for days, just combing through thousands of feet of film splicing bits here and there together BY HAND to try and get a cogent story out of it. Her house was for sale a few years ago and I was blown away that the new owners didn't seem to know or care who she was, or that the greatest film masterpiece ever made was edited there. Not to mention that the best jumpscare in the film was filmed in the pool, twenty feet away).
