TRAIN TO BUSAN (2016) *REACTION* FIRST TIME WATCHING!

All aboard the Trauma Express! 🚆🔥
We watched Train to Busan for the very first time and let’s be extremely clear: NOT ONE SINGLE PUMPKIN prepared us for the level of heart, utter horror, and hot dad energy happening here 🤭 The humanity, the sacrifice, the ride-or-die love... we were clutching each other, fully undone 🧟‍♀️

Oh and we’re filing an emotional damage claim with Korea Train eXpress... 🥲

Just read your reply to Keith's post and wanted to reply here! Definitely understand what you're saying and I think this is where our personal experiences come into play on how we view this movie. As two gay men who have grown up feeling super unsafe in Texas for our entire lives, it's taught us to feel like we can only rely on ourselves to stay protected because time and time again we have been burned by those we trust, and those we don't. in many different regards. Especially coming out of an election where this country, our neighbors from all around, have voted a tyrant as the most important job in the country for a second time. So when we're putting ourselves into these characters shoes while watching a movie like this, our learned experiences are always going to shape how we react--which will always be honest coming from us. It is sadly a cynical way to view the world but it's our honest reality, especially right now. So yeah all that being said we definitely can understand why and how you and many others view this movie differently from us but that's the beauty of art. Thank you for watching!

Never seen a reaction to this film like this one, and I have watched many. As someone who loves this film this reaction wasn't for me but I'm glad you saw it, and appreciated at least a lot of the technical aspects of executing this movie.

I'm really glad I read this comment before I started, and 45 minutes in it definitely makes sense to me. It's interesting to think about what it means to protect everyone else AND protect yourself, and how often these things are perceived as polar opposites. For me, this movie's message feels pretty clear (especially with who is portrayed as being an antagonist and why): People helping other people is important, aka "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together." Yes you can help yourself: battle zombies on your own and make sure you run faster than the person behind you. And also, when you get tired, or hurt, or hungry, or need just that one extra second to get to safety, receiving help from someone else can be critical. Which means sometime you may be the one holding the door, and deciding what to do. If we all shut the door, very soon there isn't anyone to hold it open ever again. Stress, panic and fear really make people do wild things, which is part of why I love this film so much. Having seen it multiple times it still gets my heart rate up, the way it induces that anxiety in me is really well done. I find it's hard to say what is "correct" about people's responses because it really can depend on where you're standing at the time, and your values, upbringing, mental health, etc. Or at least I feel like I understand a lot of different perspectives and feelings. I would like to live in a world where communal welfare is a priority... instinctively it can feel really difficult when I already don't feel safe. Still like to hold the door open for as long as I can, though.

I'm really sad you guys had such a cynical view going into this movie but I do understand because of how zombie and apocalypse movie's twisted people's view on humanity in events like this. Unlike those movies, this movie was about having humanity and being there for each other when these events happen and how selfishness, tyranny and making people hate each other will be our downfall. I still maintain the belief that when this kinds of events happens, humanity will fight for their right to maintain human and try to do the best for each other, exactly how people criticized those who go against Covid restrictions and even support for those suffering in Gaza.
