Vibrant Red, Warm Gold NMM and green OSL, Chaos Warriors

Hi all! In today’s tutorial we take a look at 3 topics at once! Vibrant Red, Warm Gold NMM and green OSL are all very nice skills in your toolbox so let’s get cracking!

1. On a Rhinox Hide basecoat, add a layer of Evil Sunz Scarlet. The placement of the highlight is important. If you don’t know wheee to put the highlights - look at the bit you’re painting before you start applying the highlights. There’s a good chance that the basecoat will be reflecting some light. Use that light as guidance of where to put the highlights.

2. Reinforce the red with a coat of Evil Sunz Scarlet mixed 2:1 with Wild Rider Red. You can add this as a glaze or as a coat of paint from your airbrush. You want to be hitting the entirety of the previous highlights in this case as we are still making that color more vibrant.

3. The final steps on painting the red are: adding a coat of Troll Slayer Orange mixed 1:1 with Evil Sunz Scarlet. Again, you can use an airbrush if you don’t like glazing. Finally, using the same color mix, add a edge highlight on the sides of the shield that are supposed to be red.

4. Now onto the gold, basecoat the whole gold area with Rhinox Hide and then start highlighting with Mournfang Brown in glaze consistency.

5. Glaze with Yriel Yellow mixed 3:1 with Ushabti Bone. Only add this in the previously covered areas but in smaller doses. If you make every highlight smaller than the previous one, you will achieve a nice, smooth transition.

6. Glaze and edge highlight with Ushabti Bone mixed in 1:1 ratio with AK Interactive Ivory.

7. Use Caliban Green to glaze over the eyes and the area around it. Only add the green to the areas that could be lit by the glow from the eyes. If an area is not directly exposed to light coming from the eyes - there should be no OSL there. Make sure to make the OSL effect big enough to be noticeable but not too big, to not distract the viewer completely.

8. Glaze with a 1:1 mix of Caliban Green and Yriel Yellow. Again, make sure to only cover a part of the previous highlight.

9. Add a final glaze with a combination of the previous mix 1:1 with Ivory from AK Interacive. Also edge highlight the eyes to make them pop.
