Hi all!
Today I’d like to share a very quick and tidy step by step tutorial on how to do crisp weathering.
1. So first you want to get your detail painted entirely so that all of the highlights are finalized and we know, what color to use for the paint chipping effect.

2. Start applying your brightest highlight color (the brightest color you have used to highlight the armor itself) in the areas, that could be weathered. In this case, we are painting a shield, so the chipping would appear on the outer edges and in some areas in the middle.

3. Use black paint to add dots inside of the bright areas you’ve just created in step 2. So you want a black dot (that will be working as a dent) with bright edges (which will be working as chipped paint).

And that’s it! It’s not the most realistic way to paint weathering but it’s a very quick, fun, tidy and cool way to do it. At the end of the day, we are painting fantasy miniatures and not everything has to be 100% like in real, boring life. Also, the rule of cool beats all of the other rules! I posted this on my social media a few days ago, but I decided to also upload it here, so that you can find all of my tutorials stored in one place.
I really hope you like this and enjoy the tutorial.
Keep casting the spells! 🧙♀️
Cheers,
