Imperial Fists armor and weathering

Hi fellow Wizards and Necromancers!

Hope everyone is having a pleasant week so far.

Today I’d like to show you a nice and easy way to paint your Imperial Fists (or just yellow elements in general). Let’s get into it!

1. So first, you want to start with a white basecoat. This is a very crucial thing to do, as a white basecoat can go a long way when working with bright colors like yellow. Apply 2-3 thin coats of white.

2. The next thing is to apply a second layer of basecoat and this time it’s with Ivory from AK Interactive. By making the basecoat a bit warmer with a beige color, you go towards a more warm tone of yellow in the future, which is exactly what we want here. Apply 2-3 thin coats of this color.

3. Apply Yriell Yellow mixed in a 1:1 ration with water. Add this in 2-3 thin coats.

4. Apply the Seraphim Sepia Wash from Citadel all over the surface, but drag the paint more into the crevasses and outer edges of the armor (that usually would be darker).

5. Outline the crevasses and the screws with a dark brown color. I’ve used Rhinox Hide in this case.

6. Edge highlight the entire surface with a 1:1 mix of Yriel Yellow and Ivory from AK Interactive.

7. Use Ivory to edge highlight only the edges that should be the brightest (the ones that are most exposed to the light coming from the top). Also add a few scratches and blobs of Ivory all over the surface, where the battle damage/weathering would appear.

8. Add Abaddon Black inside of the blobs of Ivory previously added on the surface. This will create a effect of a dent in the armor, with a bright edge - where the paint would chip away. This has to result in a realistic, fun, clean weathering effect. It has to be random to be realistic, so best avoid following any patterns here.

And that is it!

I really hope you enjoy this one, try it out and share the results with me.

Have a great one!
